Yet the media wasn't upset with him. Trump is being treated very unfairly.

The point is the hypocrisy of those criticizing Trump who were silent when Obama did the same thing.

His quote right after the shooting

The FBI is now on the scene with local police, and more of the bureau's best are on their way to join them. The attorney general has announced plans for the FBI to open a hate crime investigation. We understand that the suspect is in custody, and I'll let the best of law enforcement do its work to make sure that justice is served.

Until the investigation is complete, I'm necessarily constrained in terms of talking about the details of the case. But I don't need constrained about the emotions that tragedies like this raise.

The shooting in Charleston was not part of an organized event by a group who proudly proclaimed themselves to be white supremacists.

IF in deed it had been -- he would have...but if, should, could...not important.

Is this post serious? This has to be a joke. Nobody can be this clueless.

What did Obama do? The right constantly ragged on him. They did everything in their power to try to stop him from succeeding.

Obama is no longer president so he doesn't need to comment.

Yup, and that's the difference between apples and oranges. Another thread failure by Trump supporters.

What about Bush and all of the other ex-Presidents? You upset with them too?

First, Obama clearly from the start was in no way supportive of neo-nazis, even in his earliest days. Besides, white nationalists are so closely related to Neo-Nazis specifically that any condemnation of Dylan Roof types practically assures condemnation of Neo-nazis. This is just so obvious it doesn't need bringing up. That's like assuming any practicing Christian who doesn't criticize attacks on Christians in the Middle East is a hypocrite for not outright condemning the anti-Christian attackers.

It. Simply. Goes. Without. Saying.

I've learned to never underestimate the capacity of a despicable person's capacity for self-delusion or self-righteous stubbonness in the face of plain wrongness - especially when their rationalizations and excuses appeal to our kneejerk reptilian brainstem's distaste for the traits of the targeted person. We as a society simply have to learn to identify which particular trait is being targeted, determine if that trait really is a substantive threat to our well-being (physical or mental or our dignity) or if it's just a petty, nitpicky aspect of a person, and if the latter we admit that the trait is an inappropriate target for scorn no matter how unpopular it may be among even the vast majority of people.
