83% Of America's Top High School Science Students Are The Children Of Immigrants

Stuart Anderson , CONTRIBUTOR

(Linda Doane/Society for Science & the Public)

Amol Punjabi won the First Place Medal of Distinction for Basic Research at America’s top competition for high school science students in 2016.

What would we lose if immigrants could no longer come to America? Surprisingly, one of the most important things America would lose is the contributions made by their children.

the potentially substantial contributions of their children.

I support restricting immigration, which will free up more of the limited funding for the schools to concentrate on educating our own citizens. I know because of "English As A Second" language being such a great expense, that it limits what is available to our students, especially those with special needs. Too often, immigrants are given special treatment and privileges not available to our citizen students.

These parents and children should be left in their own countries to excel.

Like what?

I am a legal immigrant. What special treatment is there? I'd love to take advantage of it.

So you think having Special Needs Students populate the ranks of our doctors, programmers and entrepreneurs is going to MAGA?

Do I have to remind you that one of founders of Google was born on Moscow? How about Steve Jobs dad being from Syria? Elon Musk from Africa?

I could go one, but suffice it to say without these recent immigrants we'd REALLY turn into a 2nd or 3rd world country.

If your kid has a "special need", YOU should be paying the extra freight to educate them, not other taxpayers.

They are overwhelmingly Asian mostly Indian and Chinese. So you liberals and globalist can't paint all immigrants as superior scholars.

Besides China and Indian aren't countries America would like to be. America was great before there was much immigration form Asia.

America already has more native STEM students and student in general than it has need or opportunities for.
