There's so much irrational hatred of him, with some even hoping for impeachment. I think many would prefer to see him (and in turn, the US), fail and decline during his term in office rather than see him and the country do well.

I define him succeeding as making America a better place for everyone.

I would love to see that happen. That is the best outcome - not Trump getting impeached or whatever.

Ego is meaningless in the face of real world context.

Neither.

I don't care if he personally succeeds or fails. I care if the American public succeeds or fails.

I believe that he aims to destroy American institutions that I hold dear, so clearly I hope he fails. I wish nothing but the best for the American people.

Why would anyone not want our POTUS to be successful no matter who he (or maybe someday she) is? I would hope I would reap the benefits of a successful president.

I will always hope for America to succeed.

Trump can fail and America can still be a success. Our nation was set up to be greater than just one man.

I want any President to succeed. A President is always of us, so the president always one of us. When he fails, we all fail.
