Trump talked about how "he" upgraded the nuclear arsenal. Actually Obama upgraded the arsenal.
As a failing president, he wants people to believe he actually does stuff, very important stuff. As a flaming narcissist, it has to be bigger, greater, more important and powerful stuff than anybody else, especially his predecessor. Gotta be galling that Obama went out on such a high note and Trump continues a steady slide toward the presidential basement.
Trump treats the truth as an inconvenience to be overcome. Taking credit for someone else's accomplishments/ideas is very Trump and very narcissistic. Why work hard to achieve your own successes if your sense of morality allows you to, instead, just take credit for those you covet. Or to create your own delusions of success without lifting a finger or straining a brain cell.

You've hooked on Occams razor and not answered what Kim's end game would be in a 1st strike. He knows he wouldn't survive the retaliation. His weapons are for deterrence and his perpetual war-time footing and posturing are to keep order at home.

Well yes, all nukes, Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), and the nuke arms race are/were to threaten the destruction of cities. By definition deterrence.

McCain trashed Trump before Trump say anything negative about McCain.. McCain also trashed Trump's supporters.. no one ever talks about how McCain hates Trump and hated him before Trump ever said anything about McCain. Fact.

Worst case. North Korea nukes South Korea. USA flattens North Korea, with conventional bombs, to oblivion in retaliation. Hundreds of thousands of people die. Pretty horrible scenario.
Trump didn't start this North Korea nuclear disaster for the world. He may well finish it, however.
