President Trump addressed the ongoing crisis between the U.S. and North Korea at a briefing on opioids in New Jersey on Tuesday, issuing a stern warning to the regime for its continued provocations.

"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States," warned Mr. Trump from his golf club in Bedminster.

"They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen," he told reporters. "He has been very threatening -- beyond a normal statement," Mr. Trump said of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. "As I said, they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before."

This rhetoric is starting to sound a bit scary.

In the same story: Over 60% of Americans doubt Trump's ability to handle the North Korea situation while the usual 1/3 think he can handle it.

Nice diplomacy. What does he mean here? Will we bomb North Korea, kill hundreds of thousands, while North Korea strikes South Korea and the US, also killing hundreds of thousands? This will also trigger a mass refugee problem into China, destabilize world government and economies. Is this what Trump means? He's long on bluster and short on analysis of the situation. All sounds very nice in 140 characters on Twitter, but he's the President of the United States now and it's obvious he's in way over his head.

Wondering if a RussiaGate story is going to break any hour. And he's trying to deflect it with macho man war talk. The deflection worked a couple months ago when he warned about an armada heading toward N Korea, when it was really headed elsewhere. But he got top news story then.

He hasn't the slightest notion of what to do.

The old adage, "don't make ultimatums you aren't prepared to carry through on" comes to mind. Trump simply appears even weaker when he tweets statements like this and, ultimately encourages an escalation of the situation. I get it, he's in a no win situation but, unless he is planning WWIII, he should stop making statements like this.

There's no such adage.
