The "seed corn" is there -- in the hands of philanthropies and other non-profit institutions, and it's growing rapidly, and I don't have a problem with finding some more of it in a bloated defense budget that provides an overbuilt military with every plaything it wants. If "socialism" grows via this process. I won't have too much of a problem with it.
But I DO have a big problem with any number of domestic and (God Forbid!) international collections of do-gooders who think that every "issue" can be addressed by a public-sector entity which has no goal other than a bigger budget and staff. And the "global warming" uproar, directed at its teenybopper clientele, is a prime example.
We cannot afford to have the "seed corn" eaten by the Great Unwashed and the Great Unthinking.
Not exactly what I meant.....I don't want a bloated military...want the money spent on massive infrastructure reform. Employ more people and get wages higher. I would keep the science budget fat.I'm also against giveaways. I do want the opportunity to earn it..to be readily available.

The problem here, is Unite the Right is being completely disingenuous when they call themselves a peaceful gathering. That's like a kid rolling their eyes at you and saying "what, I didn't say anything!"
Peaceful gatherings are weddings, barbecues, music festivals, etc.
This was anything but a peaceful gathering. This event was meant to invoke terror and horrific memories in the hearts of Black people in the town. TORCHES?? REALLY??
They came with no intention of peaceful gathering.
They want to be able to clearly communicate hostility and terror and then say "what? we didn't harm anyone. All we did was stand here peacefully and they started it!" Yeah. That didn't even work in kindergarten, lads.
Any sane person would be against what those KKK guys were even protesting for. If you feel sorry for any one of those asshats you belong down there with them getting the crap kicked out of you.
righties already making excuses for the driver that drove into the crowd.
He wuz a gud boy, he dindunuffin.
But seriously, cognitive-dissonance is everywhere. The real problem is, we don't like each other, and we don't agree with each other. I would go so far as to say that we hate each other.
We are together only because we were never given a choice.
Today's episode of domestic terrorism was not done by both sides. Trump's choice to pander to white supremacists rather than call out this act of terrorism is an abomination.
The culture of racist identity politics and political violence did not start with Donald Trump, or the right. It was being done by the left before Trump was even elected. People were beat up for being a suspected Trump supporter, BLM rioting and looting and calling for dead cops, became the status quo over the past year or so. Now, finally, leftist violence has begotten more violence.
But, regardless of leftists starting it, both sides do deserve condemnation, since both sides are now engaging in mutual violence. Trump made the right choice in condemning them both.
He doesn't want to alienate or demean those alt-right racists who voted for him. He may not wish to associate with someone like David Duke, but he'll gladly accept his vote.
quote from that link: "...I don't think he did it maliciously. He got spooked because the counter-protesters were getting rowdy.."
Yes, he got spooked and floored it through 2 city blocks.
