I thought this had to be an April Fools joke when I first saw the headline, but apparently, it's not a joke. How sad to see the City Of Minneapolis allowing itself to be destroyed, bit by bit. Where and how does this movement to erase our past end - if it ever does?

Lake Calhoun may be a name that disappears into history.
The Minneapolis Park Board on Wednesday voted unanimously to change the name of the city’s landmark lake to Bde Maka Ska, its original Dakota name, in a nod to American Indians who lived near the lake and a repudiation of lake namesake John C. Calhoun, a vice president who was an ardent supporter of slavery.
So they renamed it to a name fitting the Native American history of the area. Calhoun would be a carpetbagger in reverse wouldn't he? He never even set foot in Minnesota.??
They renamed Mt. McKinley to its native name. Get over it dude. Times change.
Brooklyn Avenue in Boyle Heights in Los Angeles was renamed Cesar Chavez Avenue in the early 90's.

After the communist revolution in Russia, almost everything was renamed, and rearranged, and reference to the established traditions banned and vilified.

I suppose that people who support this name change also would support removing George Washington's name from everything since he owned slaves as well.
McAuliffe actually referred to Washington and Jefferson as patriots in his statement. I will need the billion page liberal morality guide to figure it all out.
