Who is making this claim?

A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent. One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man".

Indeed. Some things we cannot be loyal to. The Civil War was a big mistake. Anyone who says we are more divided than ever, they only need to look to the Civil War to be proven wrong. people took up arms against each other, in the same country.

The Confederate side was all about keeping the slave institution around. It's in the Articles of Secession. Erecting a statue of Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson is paying tribute to the Confederate cause. Either some people are good at lying to themselves, or some people really do support the Confederate cause and are covert about it.

It is unfortunate that you are incapable of recognizing the fallacies in your rhetoric. Lets not dwell on removing space aliens, toenails, graffiti, or whatever red herring you can conjure. Lets remember that we both agree with the actions of the mayor in Lexington - removing Confederate statues. Hope this helps.

Hope this helps.

The Civil War was not just about slavery. It was about state's rights, and the North's economic assault on the South. Yes, slavery was a part of it, but not the deciding factor for the war. The Federal government used the war to crush state's rights, and become the powerful, centralized collective we see today. The corrupt courts have upheld much of the Federal over reach, and control. It is not why this country was founded. We now have a royal government class similar to the one in which we rebelled against. It is criminal.

The Civil War was about the right of states to preserve slavery under the banner of "State's Rights". Monuments to those who upheld that institution should be removed.

It hasn't reached the scale of the civil war yet, but one side is certainly pushing towards it.

Radical leftists are taking up arms against Americans.

Let me guess, "that's different". Organized attacks on the police and politicians aren't an act of civil war when they coincide with your agenda, I'm sure.
