How about affirmative action and laws against discrimination, both related to slavery, the list goes on and on, maybe it is time for a more drastic solution..........

There is no reason to honor Confederate statues unless we live in a Confederate state.

And that is impossible because the Confederacy does not exist anywhere in America.

This country has a slave past that it's been loathe to confront despite the vestiges and legacy of it being all over the place. People want to rightfully protect the memorabilia, but they want that to be the end of the topic. Doesn't work that way. If the losers of the battle to protect slavery want to remind us so badly about the nobility of their cause, and force the victors to respect the tokens of their past transgression (starting a war), then they shouldn't get mad at any request to explain themselves. The old "it's our heritage" line doesn't seem to work anymore. They need to come up with something better.

That said, watching those people yank down that statue in North Carolina made me very angry, and those people should be charged with vandalism and desecration of property. We can't have anarchy and disrespect for public property. That statue was donated, and should've been treated with respect. Then some jerk actually spat on it like a clown. There's a process to put up or remove monuments, and those rules should be followed. We can't have a free-for-all with people just ripping down monuments that they don't agree with. That's bull.
well said.

I see.

The argument against removing glorification of those who defended slavery is:

...Since there is no logical stopping point...then glorification of those who defended slavery must continue.

The problem with this argument there is indeed a logical line.

Did the person go to war against the Union to defend slavery?

Yes or No?

It would be necessary to start with the Muslims, because they were the ones who captured the blacks and sold them the owners of the slave ships.

Maybe to you, but you're entitled to having wrong opinions. The Founding Fathers, and the American Flag are next. The left is already going after them as they are offensive. When all the Confederate statues are removed they are next. WATCH, and learn.

Don't forget we must pay every black person currently living in the United States $1 million a year from now until infinity!

Divorces can be nasty...
Particularly when the "child" ( i.e. the common country) is involved.
