I'm on the fence. On one hand, I'd like the US to mind our own knitting for awhile.
On the other hand, if hundreds of thousands of people end up starving & the country devolves into chaos, it can de-stabilize the region. By default, the US is the superpower in the Western Hemisphere, and stabilizing and helping the citizens of Venezuela is a natural (military & humanitarian) action to take given the Monroe Doctrine.
And I believe we have quite a few immigrants from Venezuela. Also, the fact that they've got some oil reserves (and the women from Venezuela are hot) aren't bad things either.
The Monroe Doctrine doesn't say anything about meddling in the internal affairs of other nations. It's about maintaining hegemony over the hemisphere, which we do regardless of Venezuela's situation.
Moreover, there's no evidence that an unstable Venezuela destabilizes the region. South America isn't a player on the world stage like that (with a few exceptions). We have no pressing national interests worth going to Venezuela for. And no...oil doesn't qualify.
If people there are starving, we can help with food or medical aid. But not ONE American soldier should put a boot on Venezuelan territory.

Can't rep you again.
There is absolutely NO justification for the US to even consider invading Venezuela.
The U.S. has more oil, and gas that it knows what to do with. They recently found yet another ocean of oil in Texas. We don't need any more oil. We have centuries of fossil fuels right here in the U.S. Our fossil fuel is THE RENWABLE ENERGY SOURCE.
I read many years ago in a publication on energy and the US oil and gas industry that some in this field of science now believe that the earth is constantly producing oil, that it is not a "finite" natural resource.
There is a increased interest in Venezuela which just happens to have the largest oil reserve...Is the US after the Oil even thought the demand for oil has decreased?
Cuba, china and russia by association would love to get a foothold in SA and create havoc in our own hemisphere. that is why V is so important.
The US should spend much more time and energy cultivating SA countries than anywhere else.
The democrats paly right into Putin's strategy with their fatal Trump myopia.
