I was at a big WW2 weekend flight show and reenactment back in the 90s. I remember seeing a German pilot ( Russian front so more power to him) and a Tuskegee airman in the same hanger selling their memoirs.
They had the germans, Japanese, americans, even some brits. Its history and they act the parts to give the audience a better understanding of what it was like. There's no big deal and the perpetually ignorant need to stop complaining about every little thing that offends them but nobody else.
I have met Pilots from just about all sides. Actually have a friend that does a Tuskegee Airman impression along with his Son. Great display and highly educational. We also get WW2 Vets from almost all sides who express their thanks for what we are trying to accomplish. ( They are not afraid to correct your impression either!!!) There is currently a great concern within the Hobby that firearms laws will change, preventing Events to be held in some areas. Currently one of the Midwest's biggest events is held in Rockford Ill. and should Ill. change more of their gun laws this will probably go someplace else....
So with all this hullabaloo from the left re Confederates and Nazis I wonder what's going to happen to the reenacting hobby????? (mods feel free to move to hobby's if you don't think it could go here)
There are many, many Colonial and Revolutionary War re-enactments up in Massachusetts and they would not take kindly to history being called a hobby. Progressives have a great deal of respect for our history.
If we are going to tear down monuments to Confederate soldiers and erase their names you are attacking the wrong enemies. Instead of railing against the South in rebellion, we MUST get rid of all the references to our first enemies: British ROYALTY.
No more place names based on British rule:
Most of the original colonies names were based on Kings or Queens. Change them.
No streets with Royal titles. No more King, Duke, Prince, Princess, or Knight.
No "King's Grant Shopping Center"
No "Prince William Sound"
Get rid of York County and Lancaster and revert New York to New Amsterdam.
Eliminate old English place names. Like Raleigh, and Elizabethville.
And eliminate First American place names. They were defeated and do not deserve our notice. New England, get busy and dump those. We can't pronounce them anyway.
"Maybe name everything after fictional characters?"
Thanks for the answer. When I go to air shows, they sometimes have WWII German and Japanese aircraft. Sometime they do mock dogfights, or semi reenactments. I respect when they retain ALL the accurate markings as they are LEGAL here. Not so in less free societies like Germany, and Japan.
In Germany you can go to jail for a couple of years for flying a swastika. They learned more from WWII than the United States did.

Great point!
The entire Confederate statue thing is just more VIRTUE SIGNALLING by the Media, Democrats, and their useful idiot, progressive supporters over SLAVERY. They don't care about the British tyranny. It doesn't fit the narrative.
But, a statue of Marx is OK? How many people make the effort to research something they no nothing about? A statue may spur someone to actually learn more, good or bad, about the subject. Without the statue that person would never know.
You are talking away my right to view history in the light of day.
Where is the statue of Marx? There are statues to Confederate traitors all over the South, that are no more than participation trophies.

So, then - You're in favor of slavery...?
