No one cares about Brigham Young because few have even heard of him.
But everyone knows Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson etc and what they were all about.
I am very unlikely to live in Utah. But if, due to some unfortunate circumstance I wound up living there, and were asked about a Young statue, I personally would vote for it to come down. But I would expect most of the other voters to vote to retain it. And I would live with that.
Because the taxpayers who fund it have the say.
I respect your consistency on this matter.
Even though I disagree with your sentiments.
Finally, a little principle shines through on C-D!
The calls for the Charlottesville R E Lee statue to come down began before Trump was elected, as with the four Baltimore statues. Both cities had appointed people to study the situation and make a report. Both cities then made decisions about which statues should come down.
Now you may not like these decisions, but they had nothing to do with Trump.
Your statement is irrelevant to the results of the poll. Whether I like or dislike the decisions to bring down the Charlottesville or Baltimore statues is also irrelevant.
As for Trump, you're correct, the decisions to bring statues down had nothing to do with Trump, but he's the one being bashed by the left, the MSM, and some Republicans whose opinion is swayed by whatever is most politically expedient for them.
Young will not fall unless racists, the Klan and the Nazis show up and try to make his statue a focal point for their hate as they have with Confederate memorials. The actions of righties are the reason the statues have to go.

Trump is being bashed for his appallingly inept responses to an extremely touchy situation.
All he had to do was refrain from saying that that these nazis were OK by him. As several talking heads have noted, in American politics there is no bigger no-brainer than resolutely opposing nazis.
He wouldn't have had to condemn them - generally deploring the situation and offering condolences to the loved ones of the murdered woman would have worked just fine. The situation would still have remained volatile, of course, but Trump would have been seen as someone trying to do the right thing, rather than someone deliberately throwing gasoline on a burning fire.

Exactly.
And the removal of statues is not the end of the USA as we know it.
Time to tackle the religious leader and first governor of Utah: Brigham Young.
The Mormon leader was clearly defiant to the dominance of the federal government which led to the Utah War (1857-58).
A traitor to America, he was removed from power as a tenet of the peace accord. Also part of the deal was amnesty for all Mormons, including Young, on the charges of sedition and treason as long as they submitted to federal authority.
If it's taxpayers who fund the statue, and they want it to stay, it should stay. If they want it to go, it should go. Whether the statue is of Brigham Young, R E Lee, Lenin, or Mickey Mouse.
I don't disagree - what City or State has allowed a referendum to the Taxpayers/Voters?
