I agree. Trump has been pummeled from many directions, but some of the criticism he has received has been self inflicted and deserved.

I hope Trump ignores the pile on that is happening now and turns his attention to policy. I hope he ignores the hysteria whipped up by the activist press and by the small groups of extremists and sticks to working his agenda.

The difference is trumps lack of talent and ability to actually deal with those challenges and struggles, not to mention that most of trumps issues are self made and inflicted. We need true Statesmen that knows how to lead people to Lead this Nation, not a megalomaniac who's only people skill is to demand others do it his way or hit the highway.

And sadly we know that will not happen, it is not within him to rise above the name calling and childish antics, as I said before he was elected, he simply is not Presidential Material.

He ain't your dang baby sitter who has been assigned to fix your boo-boo. This nation has been "going through" tragic events caused by Democrats who throw temper tantrums. And now you want someone to make you "feel better" about them?

Your short and sweet sentence sums it up perfectly. Donald Trump is INCAPABLE of what most people can express in terms of human emotions and consideration toward others. He is "The Donald", a cold, immature, self centered, spiteful man, who delights in trashing others to make himself look good.

He can not unite us because that is not in his DNA. Even when he is trying to look compassionate toward someone, the look on his face says it all. He is simply a horrible human being, and you can't change that.

Talking Soothing the nation? Trump struggles like no other president.

It's obvious.

Since he started campaigning more than two years ago, tRump has been speaking to a small segment of America and he's never spoken one word to the rest of us.

He spewed enough lies during the campaign to gain office with the smallest minority vote in history. And ever since that fluke win, he's never said anything to the majority who didn't support him. In fact, he's alienated a considerable portion of his voters.

He's in a deep hole and keeps demanding a bigger shovel.

He's entertaining!

The Economist got it right:

https://www.economist.com/news/leade...-grasp-what-it

"For Republicans in Congress the choice should be clearer. Many held their noses and backed Mr Trump because they thought he would advance their agenda. That deal has not paid off. Mr Trump is not a Republican, but the solo star of his own drama. By tying their fate to his, they are harming their country and their party. His boorish attempts at plain speaking serve only to poison national life. Any gains from economic reform—and the booming stockmarket and low unemployment owe more to the global economy, tech firms and dollar weakness than to him—will come at an unacceptable price."

Try a Google search for "consoler in chief" ..... dozens and dozens of google pages on Obama as "consoler in chief". Well over a dozen times he traveled to give a speech on Mass Killings. Some were Terror Attacks against the Nation (called work place violence or homophobia) and some were Nutters who Murdered because they were Nutters - once was a shooting with no deaths (Gabby Giffords). I couldn't help but notice that the shooting against the Republican Baseball team was just a "meh" - by the way, Scalise is still in a rehabilitation hospital.

Charlottesville wasn't a "Mass Killing", it was one death and a preventable death at that - the Police were issued Stand Down Orders to allow the Violence that led to the death by automobile. That's not exactly on a par with the Challenger Explosion (Reagan), the Oklahoma City Bombing (Clinton) or 9/11 went the USA was attacked and over 3,000 people killed (Bush II). The equivalency of those Mass Killings with what happened in Charlottesville is nothing less that stunning.

It's impossible to "soothe a Nation" with a Media that constantly beats the drums of discord and vilification of that Nation's President. A Mother who praised his words of condolence became afraid to shake his hand or take a telephone call from him, she is wise - the Leftist and Leftist Media would rip her to shreds if she were do shake the hand of the President or take a telephone call from him.

That is the State of the Nation - the Hysterical Meltdown continues .....

The bolded is never going to happen. That would require that he not only have an interest in policy, but that he also knows something about policy. He's demonstrated throughout his multi-year twitter rage against Obama, throughout his campaign, and throughout his presidency that he knows less than nothing about policy - what he does "know" is false - and that he has no interest in learning.

Trump is going to go right on being Trump - acting like a toddler with emotional problems. He can't act like a decent human being. Reaching out and comforting the nation isn't going to happen because Trump is incapable of even pretending to care about another human being.

If you wanted a policy wonk, you should've voted for Hillary. If you wanted someone who could at least simulate human emotion, you should've voted for Hillary. Or you should've chosen someone who wasn't a narcissistic blowhard in the primary. As it is, everyone saw exactly what kind of person Trump was and they got exactly what they should've expected. Now his cult whines about how Trump is treated unfairly when the media reports on Trump behaving exactly like Trump.

And for some reason (pride?) he can't even fake it.
