That's the funny thing. "Obama divided us for eight years with his horrible policies!" Ok, let's just say for sake of argument that that's all true; Obama was a divisive President.

How's our current guy doing?

1. "The elections are rigged" - before he even wins.

2. Undermining our justice department's independence with demands of loyalty, politically-motivated firings, denial of FBI evidence, and obstruction of investigations.

3. Undermining and categorizing an independent press as an American enemy - "All my critics are Fake News."

4. Constant stream of crude, juvenile personal Twitter attacks and insults on people.

5. Broad generalization of Mexicans, Muslims, and immigrants as an American enemy.

6. Extremely partisan, divisive speeches even to groups like the Boy Scouts.

7. Takes days to condemn white supremacists after their rally after significant prodding from both sides; has "alt-right" people affiliated with them on his cabinet up until recently.

What DOESN'T he do that is divisive? I guess if you're a white conservative, then you feel "unified." If you're anyone else, not so much. So if you're going to talk about "divisive", start with the guy in charge setting the tone now.

Trump has had the media hating him before he even took office 24/7 and you expect him to now welcome liberals? It's clear nothing will satisfy liberals besides his resignation.

I'm confused - why should we start with a premise which we know isn't true? No one except racists (and obstructionist Republicans) imagine that Obama was divisive.

So the media is to blame for his handpicked White House team quitting, getting fired, and going after each other behind closed doors?

I would start with:

Grant legitimacy to our independent media and our independent judicial system.

Get rid of your own kids in your cabinet (FFS!) and establish real separation from your business interests.

Make crystal clear right out of the gate that you do not support broad negative ethnic stereotypes in your policies.

Stop attacking everyone personally like a bad-tempered 13 year-old on Twitter - find a more mature way to respond to your critics.

Had he done that, I may not have agreed with his politics, but I could respect him as a human with some integrity. I have never felt this way about any other conservative politician. Any other conservative mature adult you could have put into office, I could have dealt with.

But Trump didn't do any of this and came in with the moral compass and tact of a WWE ring-side announcer. Divisive.

I don't know where you live, but you're out of your mind if you believe that. Obama thrived on dividing the country...when he wasn't busy giving Iran plane loads of cash, doubling the national debt, ruining everyone's health coverage, leaving more behind on food stamps than ever before, and making fake red lines in the sand.

That may be, but this young man isn't like that other one; you know, that colored one who wanted me to sign up for healthcare?

Sincerely,

Your aunt Greta

P.S. I've started coughing dust, dear, and last night the toaster told me the End Times were upon us. If I'm ravaged by the hordes of Satan before the Good Lord should take me, just know that I gave you the good china and your uncle's favorite typewriter.

Even if all that were true, what did Obama do that was racially divisive?

I could at least agree with you on that.
