I mean, I feel bad for her condition, but crowdfunding?

Oh well, as long as people want to give I suppose. Her gofundme is nearing 20 thousand dollars (initial goal was 15 thousand).

Woman Born Without a Vagina Is Fundraising for Surgery That Would Allow Her to Have Sex - Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome

Quote:
Per a GoFundMe created by her sister Amanda, Kaylee Moats is a 22-year-old woman who was born without a vagina. Because her insurance technically considers the surgery to give her one an elective, cosmetic procedure, the Moatses couldn’t afford the $15,000 cost on their own — so they’re turning to the internet.

This is the sort of thing that keeps you up at night? The story says that the woman would like to be able to have children - a very natural desire it seems to me. If people want to help her out, that's up to them. I'd repost your OP in the Current Events Forum if I were you and go make yourself a nice cup of hot milk and go to sleep. There will be plenty of new atrocities to post about around here in the morning.

Weird, but whatever. There are far worse reasons to set up a crowdfunding page.

Seems kind of odd that her Obamacare compliant insurance wouldn't cover this.

They give men "vaginas" so why not this woman? She can't have kids regardless since there is also no cervix or uterus. I knew a girl with a similar condition long ago, I don't know what she did about it though.

This is called a genetic defect. This person should not be breeding or giving her eggs to anyone and rightly so.

Quick side note: Insurance also covers meds for vaginal dryness/vaginal atrophy etc. Often much more consistently than they cover erectile dysfunction meds.
