That's not how it happened, so we are on the same page here:
No, that's not how it happened. It wasn't an assumption; it was a complete fabrication. The "hacking" of the DNC servers was completely made up. The other stuff you mention wasn't the reason for the witch hunt.

If most Republicans are liberals, and most Democrats are liberals, where are the conservatives?

Small children often act as if something is gone forever when you merely take something out of their sight.

Eventually, they grow out of it. I think it is called object permanence, but I'm not sure.

Most adults realize that things exist even if they can't see, or hear them.
Some are more able to connect the dots.

Glenn Simpson spent 10 hours being interviewed by senate investigators, yeah sure this is going away.

Quote:
Senate investigators met this week with the co-founder of the political research firm behind the explosive dossier of unsubstantiated and salacious material about President Trump's alleged ties with Russia.
Glenn Simpson, a former Wall Street Journal reporter who later helped found the private investigation firm Fusion GPS, sat down with Senate Judiciary Committee staff behind closed doors on Tuesday, congressional aides told NPR.
Simpson's firm hired a respected former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele, to compile the dossier, which alleges that Trump had a long-running relationship with Russia and that the Kremlin holds compromising material on him.
