Some of you seem to believe that the EPA is a new creature, perhaps created by Obama.
Of course, the Environmental Protection Act (strongly supported by Senator Goldwater, among others) was passed by Congress, and signed into law by Nixon, in 1970.
As such, I guess one must examine the economy since 1970. I recall very high inflation in the mid 1970s (thanks to OPEC), as well as a roaring economy under Reagan (in part thanks to cutting the very high personal income tax rate), etc.
it is a creature that was created by Nixon, and has been growing ever since ( like all govt)
Your post doesnt change a thing.
California is booming -- and that's either in spite of, or because of, strict environmental regulations. The latest cap-and-trade auction brought in record revenue. Solar and wind power are booming, fueling lots of jobs.
The environment vs. economy argument no longer makes sense. California proves that you can protect the environment and have a strong economy at the same time.
California's SB 350 requires the state to procure 50% of electricity from renewable energy and double energy efficiency savings by 2030. And the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "Clean Power Plan" wants states to "to act more like California."
Yet, beyond power rates 45% above the U.S. average, California has another problem that makes it less of a model than some proclaim. California now imports 33% of its electricity supply from fast growing neighbors, with about 65% of that coming from the Southwest and 35% coming from the Northwest. These numbers increase most in summer months when air conditioning loads peak. Imports have been rising rapidly: in 2010, California "only" imported 25% of its power.
If what the OP says is true then I guess we should require any country that wishes to import I to the US to adopt the same environmental regulations that we have.

You pay 60 cents more per gallon than I do here in MA and almost a dollar more than people do in SC. How do you think that effects the poorer people in your state?
The EPA use to be a function to protect Americans... It has changed and warped by liberals as a tool to push agendas... strange how a lot of US government departments have been damaged by liberals... Education, Interior, State... what a shame...
People that have never run a business, or paid their own bills (IOW, liberals) will believe the bunk that increased regulations do NOT increase prices and damage the economy.
The rest of us have brains.......
Regulations create "licensing" requirements to engage in certain types, or entire businesses. This stifles the small business entrepreneur that is automatically priced out, and creates a monopoly, because all that business goes to the big corporation that can afford the associated fees.
Where the fees are affordable, the small business is saddled with layers of additional insurance coverages, again pricing them out. For the small businesses that could still scrape by and remain in business and eek out an existence, 0bamacare became the catchall to eliminate most of them.
Naturally, to a lib, that has no ambition other than to sit on the porch and collect their gubmint cheese, nothing can increase costs, if it is all "free stuff" anyway. The libs that are the task masters, reap all the profits.
Liberalism, progressiveism, socialism, communism, democrats, all the same thing....... Creates a master/slave relationship thru the use of legislative regulation, and propaganda.

Sigh... You have to pay people to enforce the regulations and companies loose money when they have to buy equipment to lessen the pollution. How in the world do you not know that? Something that simple and you couldn't fathom that?
