This is as close to an update as I could find. "Bill aims to protect teachers from assault; critics say it will boost school-to-prison pipeline".

If schools brought back corporal punishment, students would be less disruptive. Also many parents are too lenient with their kids.

I disagree. My father went to schools that used corporal punishment. It was not uncommon for kids to get into fights in the classroom, in front of the teacher. Inner city schools in the 1960s.

Some states still have corporal punishment in school. Mississippi is one of them. It ranks at the bottom in terms of education. Many schools still deal with violence and disruptive behavior.

I didn't want to bring race into this, but it's the only way I can make a point. Whenever corporal punishment is used in schools, Black students are subjected to corporal punishment more than anyone else. Corporal punishment, whippings, spankings, beatings, etc, Black youths are subjected to such punishment from parents more than anyone else. It is young Black men filling up the prisons, being murdered more than any other group, committing murder(and other violent crimes) at high levels. If corporal punishment was the panacea to the problem, then there would be fewer problems within the Black population.

I think we hear more about the violence in schools. The inner city has always been rough. The inner city schools, I wouldn't disagree with you about them getting worse.

Well, nothing we can do about that problem outside of unconstitutional means. I've even said there are many people who aren't meant to be parents.

The left will tell you it was racism and discrimination that got this 16 year old locked up in jail, with a criminal record that now prevents any future lucrative employment or military service.
No one of this thread has said that racism caused that kid to beat that teacher.

Who am I kidding, this kid was clearly destined for jail and being a burger flipper in life. Liberals are starting to see it isn't the teachers or "lack of funding" who are at fault for these horrible schools, it's the disruptive students who have already decided they will not complete the bare minimum education in life which is a high school diploma.
No one here denies that said kid is basically violent and was doomed from day one. However, when people mention school funding, we aren't talking about behavior. We all know where bad behavior comes from. We're talking about actually equipment that is needed in classrooms.

I would not exactly call that being told to punch the teacher. I think she took the teacher quite by surprise. She is quite the predator and belongs in a reform school or juvenile detention.
