Let's look at donations over one million dollars to 2016 candidates:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...y.html?mcubz=1

My takeaways:

-None of these are for Bernie. Only individual funding happened for him (because he did not accept donations from corporations or billionaires).
-Trump funded his own, he has more than enough money compared to the others.
-Cruz, Rubio, Perry, Bush, Walker, Fiorina, and a host of other R's made over $5 million each from big money donors.
-Even Hillary only made $32 million TOTAL.
-If many of them are targeting Hillary with their $$, which they were, that equals a LOT more money.
-Not including Trump's, The GOP candidates made a total of $165,000,000.

Now, here's the thing:

The GOP say they are the party of the people. But they aren't. They are the party of the billionaires, and their views will directly affect those GOP politicians. To get continued money from those billionaires in future elections, they will be required by the billionaires to continue to vote for policies that benefit them.

Another random tidbit: Trump did use $12.8 million of his own money for the campaign, but has spent tens of millions on the country's dime to do his own things. Not to mention him using the presidency to indirectly use it as a platform to promote his and his family's brands.
