Yeah, well...at least Sheriff Joe never betrayed his own country and stuck the taxpayers with paying for sex-change "therapy" like this disgusting creature:
I wonder how many of you cheering this on have ever actually lived in Maricopa County? You know, where we voters sent Joe packing in November. It certainly wasn't because we were happy with him.
I do,I do! I didn't oppose Joe due to his stance on Illegals or what I see as a B.S. "trial" that should have had a jury. I opposed him for many other things he was doing including his constant show boating to get his mug in front of a camera as much as possible.
Most Sheriffs only end up in front of cameras if there's a serious event like mass casualty or huge drug bust or riot, that's why they have PIO's and department heads.
Joe didn't get bounced due to this trial, I'd bet the majority of voters were either with him on this policy or were at worst apathetic about it.
I think it was mostly because people decided it was time for a change, were angry about some of his other actions and that he really seemed to be showing his age when it came to his actions and public speaking...
Not everyone, just most Trump supporters since that's why they voted for him.
First off I wasn't speaking to YOU. Secondly, quite a broad statement, got any proof?
Kind of like saying "everyone who voted for Obama was a radical Muslim" or "everybody that voted for Hillary was a crook" or "everyone who voted for Bernie was a socialist/communist".
Arpaio "doing his job" left taxpayers of Maricopa County with a $70 million bill to cover legal costs and awards in successful discrimination lawsuits against Arpaio. Another $26 million in settlements is expected in 2018. He did his job all right - on us.
Yes, but he generally targeted non-whites, so that makes him a hero to the Trumplings.
Seriously, if Sheriff Joe's sadistic behavior hadn't made the news so many times, nobody would have heard of him and the far-right wouldn't support him. That's all this is about, really - a vote from the far-right in favor of racial profiling and violence, nothing more. Joe himself is a coward. Of all the people to idolize, the far-right chooses a spiteful bigot who's one claim to fame is basically torturing people who can't fight back. Such bravery... not. Of course, if he were a Muslim overseas and doing this, we'd hear no end of "we don't do that in this nation!" along with calls to bomb his country back to the stone age. Hypocrites.
Agree with both of these, & 'tipping my hat' to the more pragmatic perspective. I often think Mr. Arpaio's 'career' is analogous to the relatively few LEO who are responsible for most of the harms done, & for the most egregious abuses, & cost far too much in the harms &/or loss of human lives & cost much in financial damage to our systems & infrastructure. It'd make more sense to identify those who are likely to be far too costly early on in their careers & either 'weed out' or give them the opportunity to re-train for an occupation more suitable to their temperament & easier on the cost borne by the American people.
Simply said, Mr. Arpaio was a liability. His 'cost' far outweighed his value. Also agree he lacked the courage of his convictions (no pun intended).
Less strongly agree with Mr. Trump's 'decision to pardon' scenario. The pardon removed Mr. Arpaio's potential 'martyrdom' & makes it far less likely there will be statues, memorials, & what not to 'honor' his dishonorable cause.
& seriously, who knows what motivates our 'rock star Reality Show host' President?
He was found guilty of a misdemeanor you don't go to prison for misdemeanors, his maximum sentence would have been 6 months in jail and in all likelihood he wouldn't have served a day, or if he did get jail time it would probably have been 30 days. Since it was a federal charge he would have served jail time in a county jail the feds contract with and Maricopa county is not one of them. And he would have been in protective custody, just like any other public official, politician or police officer who is incarcerated.
Joe Arpaio is despicable. The deaths that occurred in his jail, the treatment of US citizens whose only crime was being latino and his 'concentration camp' jail (his term, not mine) where people convicted of misdemeanors had to spend their ail sentence outside in 120 degree temperatures and live on two meals of garbage a day. And you call that an impressive career
Sounds like you'd support him as long as he wasn't killing babies or puppies.
Obama must then be pro drug use and pro terrorist bombing and pro treason, since he pardoned drug users, terrorists, and those guilty of passing on government secrets.
