i don't think they alienate half their audience. I think that's what the people who do feel alienated say. The celebrities speak out and say what they want because they aren't concerned about that kind of thing so why should I or you be.
I don't boycott things, people, places. I might avoid some but it's not me to make symbolic gestures just for a point.
I like discussion, debating, sharing of ideas....even from people who think differently.
I may go see IT just because ...lol (I'm totally kidding....lol).
Yes but not consistently. I would probably see IT, but I won't go to see anything with Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and that bunch just because I viscerally do not like them.
It isn't like an ethos or a conscious boycott so much as I just hate some of the spoiled echo-chamber *******s.
For instance, the remake of the movie "It" is coming out soon. I probably wont see it due to Steven Kings hateful rhetoric against our President.
Its odd that these people who knowingly alienate half their audience by spouting off their hateful rants. Why?
Let's face it, we don't need to boycott them - they're going down on their own because they don't have any more good/creative ideas. Everything has been already played out.
There are always going to be people who have different viewpoints than you do, so what do you do, shut yourself off from the rest of the world ?
It is silly to take the position that you refuse to see a movie because the producer happens to not think like you.
Lets be clear, I dont care if they simply disagree with me. I instead refer to this unhinged, insane lunacy they spout. Showing a bloody severed head of the President, threatening to blow up the white house, Telling the military to overthrow trump in a coo, etc, etc.

I agree, I rarely go to the movies, but I will go if it is a story I want to see, or location etc. I also do not check to see what company owners believe, before I go shopping, either.
