No, Police do not need surgical kits that's absolute nonsense. In a department of any size you can have a paramedic on the scene before you could start doing amateur surgery on someone.
I know what a fighting load carrier is, and I know what a saw gunner set is and Police Officers need neither.
And we did not carry 38's.

Tear gas launchers are designed for that purpose. Grenade launchers are ill suited for that purpose.

With riot gear (like the one I linked in), you put one in the tube, and pull the trigger, and off it goes. With MK19, you pull the trigger, and off goes 350 rounds per minute with lethal velocity. Let's not pretend MK19 was designed for riots. It was designed for combat.
Militarized PD's are needed to fight the states unconstitutional and immoral war on drugs. Now if Pd's can recruit enough former military to operate all this equipment and treat us all like "hostiles" we can help them transition into society. Win/Win
no, they don't need 2/3 of the crap they get and some small agencies struggle to come up with the money to maintain some of those vehicles. For the most part it's just cosplay for cops & has nothing to do with law enforcement

We all know SWAT has the tools - heck, they killed my nephew (he was autistic and of no danger to anyone but himself)....
But it's really hard to imagine why Police would need high cal. machine guns and stuff like that. If such a revolution would occur in this country, the Police should retreat and call in the National Guard.
It's a sad statement on the State of the Nation. In an ideal world, out Police should be disarming (in general)...as opposed to arming up.
