many countries are more enlightened than the USA. There was a time we led but that time has long past.

Consider that in over 200 years we have never had a single female POTUS... meanwhile countries like Ireland have had female presidents, and currently have an openly gay premier who also happens to be Asian in a nation that is at least 95% white.

Leo Varadkar...
“It’s not something that defines me. I’m not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician or a gay politician for that matter. It’s just part of who I am, it doesn’t define me, it is part of my character I suppose,”

this is not to say the irish are perfect, at times they can be racist and say stupid stuff you wish they wouldn't. but mostly they are much more reasonable and just don't tie race, religion, sexuality etc to being a politician.

UK germany , india and so on all seem to have no problem having women in power.

hopefully the US will find some way to move forward without all the hate and ugliness.

What's keeping you here? There's a plane headed to somewhere better leaving soon. If you hurry you can catch it. I'm sure you don't want to be around all of us ugly haters, right?

I'm not so sure I'd call a group whose sole employment is generally prostitution is treated more open mindedly in India? Not sure how I feel about that one but the fact they can have a beauty contest doesn't really make me feel great about how they are treated in society if that's their main option to make a living.

Interesting choice of ads to play before the video. Dubai Healthcare, because Dubai is so tolerant of transgenders.

A transgendered individual was guaranteed to win the competition as it was a transgendered beauty pageant.

I think Ms. Madras should have won, it's a fix!

But seriously, I think things like this are a big step for countries like India. This would never fly in Pakistan.

Should they also not wear "caked on make up" like the other " beauty" contestants because they're transgendered?
I don't think her make up looked any more caked on than the other girls that are pictured around her.
