(CNN) A man has died after running into the towering blaze for which Burning Man is named, according to the Pershing County Sheriff's Office in Nevada.
Aaron Joel Mitchell, 41, was one of thousands at the annual gathering in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, about 120 miles north of Reno. The weeklong event of pop-up installations culminates in massive burns of an effigy known as the "Man" on Saturday and the "Temple" on Sunday.
"three kinds of people likely to rush toward the fire:
people trying to get attention
people who are on drugs intoxicated and don't understand the danger,
and the suicidal."

Reminds me of rave parties aka full moon parties were people jump into the sea off the cliff without thinking there is no way back up.
As a boat owner I am fearful of tales of drunks jumping off the boat in transit. One incident I know of the captain was lucky he noticed someone diving in so they could be picked up.
I could see a misguided stupid kid doing something like this to protest that he doesn't want to live in the racist oppressive dictatorship of the Trump America (their words not mine) but a 41 year old guy should know better.
I suspect drugs or alcohol was involved mixed with suicidal intentions.
How did the hippy snowflakes respond to this? Did they cancel the rest of the party? Were counselors brought in along with comfort puppies?
We shouldn't joke because today there is now a grieving family somewhere.
Likely everyone else was completely drunk or on drugs so it didn't matter to them.
