But Equifax is charging to have a credit freeze put on your account, and charging you when you want it lifted, so think of the profit they'll make off of THEIR negligence!

We didn't sign up for credit companies to take our info and pass it around. We are already just products to them being used at their whim, and we have to pay them MORE to protect ourselves from their incompetence and being robbed.

Interesting how we just go along with it. I imagine it won't be too difficult to convince people to be chipped.
As much of a pain as it is, I would rather pay this than an untold amount should someone have a field day with my information. I just signed up for Equifax's free credit freeze and I'm thinking the other two bureaus will follow suit and offer the same for free. I also put a fraud alert on all 3 bureaus and I also have had ID shield for some time.

Some of us rely on credit to run our businesses. Turning off cards isn't an option.
If I read you correctly, Steven you can still use your current credit cards and or business credit for company related expenses and your personal credit cards. Opening new lines will require unfreezing.

Are the way these credit bureaus, acquiring, storing, securing and monetizing our personal data even still necessary or relevant. These three bureaus should have some of the highest levels or security and data encryption.
And government regulation as well.

There needs to be a class action suit against Equifax. Free credit monitoring is a joke. Peoples SS and drivers license numbers were stolen. You can't change your SS number its compromised forever. Obviously they screwed up need to be held accountable.

I agree and would like to see that but its not like the average consumer can boycott them. A huge lawsuit might do the trick. Class action 143 million even times 1000 is 143 billion. They could not survive that.
