Uhhh..well..no


Hitler arose during the Great Depression..which was exacerbated by the Treaty of Versailles. Germany was flat broke..wheelbarrows of money needed for a loaf of bread.

Hitler rode a wave of nationalistic resentment and desperation. Many Germans felt that the surrender during WWI was a sell-out and that they had been betrayed. Antisemitism had always lurked under the surface of the German Culture..indeed, antisemitism lurked under the surfaces of most European cultures..and the US was not so great on the issue either. Anyway, Hitler used that resentment..and the desire for the German people to find someone to blame, to rise to power.

Despite the surface similarities--Nationalism and some appeals to racism-- Trump is in no way a Hitler...and the alt/right are not the Nazi party.

I think it is clear that I'm not a Trump fan..but drawing false parallels to Nazi Germany serves no good purpose.
