A lot of people say that we never should have invaded Iraq and that the death penalty is wrong no matter how bad a person is, so do you think he got what he deserved?

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the subject. Having written that, I'm also not prepared to second guess the Iraqi legal process, which determined that Saddam did deserve the death penalty.

We should not have invaded when we did, we should have when he gassed the Kurds. We did not hang Saddam, the government of Iraq did, and yes he deserved it and much worse.

I oppose the death penalty. I don't think we should give government/the community that power.

But given that Iraq has/had the death penalty, it seems to me that Saddam was exactly the kind of person that the death penalty is intended to target.

why would it matter to me if he deserved to be hanged or not? he wasnt leading this country. it was his own people that hanged him, so i bow to what ever they felt, after all its their country.

Lets see If Saddam stayed in power, we would have over 4000 of our soldiers still alive, ISIS would have never been, Iran would have been kept in check. Overall, with Saddam still in power we would have had a much lower death count in that area of the world. Same applies to Qaddafi in Libya. The middle east is a much less volatile place with Dictators running the show. "Dictators for peace"

After these years, the Iraqis feel a longing for their leader, Saddam Hussein

Because Iraq under Saddam Hussein was carrying his weight and respect
Iraq has been in a wonderful era despite some negative points

Iraq was forced to go to war with Iran
Gulf states and Saudi Arabia supported Saddam Hussein
But Saudi Arabia was also the cause of the destruction of Iraq
That's why I believe that Saddam was patriotic and loved his country and his people
He was national and secular

Saudi Arabia has directly contributed to the destruction of Iraq
Because 28 armies launched from its territory to invade Iraq
I think that Saudi Arabia is the reason for the destruction of Iraq

Saddam was all of Iraq
Saddam was all the Arabs
Saddam is not worthy of hanging

Under Saddam, security in all of Iraq was law in all of Iraq
The thieves were few
Saddam's palaces were the property of the people
But today all politicians are thieves
Iraq has become at the mercy of thieves

Saddam's Iraq was the Iraq of Arabism and the homeland
Iraq today is the Iraq of Islam and Muslims
Iraq died
By hanging Saddam

I think that hanging him until his head fell off is a bit extreme. I also think that he should have been kept alive as the imprisoned party leader, as there may have been a chance to prevent the rise of ISIS.

No. But Bush and Cheney deserve to hang for lying about non-existent WMDs and sacrificing the lives of millions on both sides for nothing.

They got rid of Saddam only to replace him with a much worse, far greater threat to the world called ISIS. Was the Bush administration monumentally stupid, or just evil? I would say probably both.
