Good for him, I do like his online response later, in which he explained why he didn't go the route of saying he was a Sikh and not a Muslim in response to the lady.

Video of Canadian Sikh politician Jagmeet Singh's calm response to racist rant by woman takes social media by storm

Quote:
A Canadian Sikh politician Jagmeet Singh's calm response to an anti-Islam, anti-Muslim tirade by a woman at a campaign event in Brampton, Ontario has taken social media by storm and received much approbation.

Singh, a frontrunner for Canada's third largest party, the Left-leaning New Democratic Party (NDP), was speaking at a campaign outreach event "JagMeet and Greet" when the incident took place, according to NDTV.

Do you have a link for his statement after? I wondered why he didn't point out the difference, not that it should really matter.

Boy, did his calmness make her look even MORE insane. I could only hope to have that sense of poise, focus, and composure under such circumstances.

Fairly obvious it was a staged event.
Nothing more common than using racism as a reason to get elected.

USA don't have a the market share of biased/bigoted types!! BUT the difference is Canadian's do NOT condone this type of behaviour.. and IT has NOTHING to do with PC!! It has do with that in any nation composed of multicultural populations.. One has to behave and complain appropriately. Showing one's biases in public is not helpful and in fact, given the digital media of today> exposes them INDIVIDUALLY!

Working in the Public sector dealing with multicultural people... I too got attacked verbally claiming all sorts of BS.. WHY?? because I didn't jump their particular jump robe at the time! All I did was remain calm.. alert security and 9/10 time was able to de-esclate it!

Point is.. I always took Cr@p from people due to understanding their stress level.. BUT once THREATENED .. I took that seriously too!

Thankfully, only once did I get physically touched/belly bumped by some idiot who stood over a foot taller and had extra 100 pounds on me... I just smiled.. and said to his question.. "You and who else is going to escort me away?" and I smiled and said.. LOOK BEHIND YOU!!! End of story.. and had to write up a report but sure did appreciate the backup by Security!! THAT IDIOT gat escorted OFF property after ALL ID noted as IF returned Police would TAKE him away!!

The above is what public servants and employee's have to deal with daily!! We don't dwell on it.. Those who act out and expose themselves are the one's who get their 15 minutes of FAME but have a lifetime legacy of abhorrent heavier that will always be on their record!! Try and get a Job after that??

You forget that this occurred in Canada were racism is not all that common.

Here is a transcript of the comments Jajmeet Singh made after the incident, including why he did not tell the woman that he is not a Muslim.

He's a murderous megalomaniac.

She's misinformed on his religion.

I'm suppose to take a side?

Not really.

If she votes, she's aiding murderous megalomaniacs.
