Why anyone looking for a pet wouldn't choose to go to a shelter is beyond me. So many great animals in need of homes.
The last time we went to the shelter we specifically asked for an adult cat who'd been overlooked. He'd been at the shelter(which houses ~400 cats most of the time) for about three years when we met him. He's awesome :-)
Why would any animal loving person would want to keep a pet is beyond me.
You want a pet because you really don't care about animals. You care about yourself because that's what pets are for - me, me, me!
Look, I really don't care if you want a pet or not. Just don't tell me how much you care about animals.

You are so wrong, sounds like you personally have a problem owning a pet, but for millions of people a pet becomes part of the family. Animals often show loyalty once adopted and are much happier.

You mean become a slave. Slaves show loyalty all the time.
I have zero problem with people owning pets, but I have a big problem with people acting like somehow they are holier.
I owned pets most of my life but that's for me not for the animals.

I would have to agree with you here. It was for selfish reasons that I attained my cat babies. I admit it. Sometimes itś odd to think about.
Why some animals are free to torture to death for a cheeseburger and others are mandated to be saved from shelters is a significant sign that itś all about the human, not the animal. We have decided whoś worth saving from torture and who is not. No getting around that one.
Liberals ruin everything, these people want one thing CONTROL, They want to control every aspect of our lives.
If only they knew better, but unfortunately thatś not always the case. The majority isn't always correct just dominant. Sort of how our pets feel I imagine. lol

I'm not sure that's entirely true. I didn't ask to adopt my two cats. I didn't even like cats very much, actually. I did it as a favor to my stepmom who runs a cat rescue. She asked if I would be willing to foster two temporarily because the family who was supposed to adopt them backed out and they didn't have any more space. It ended up being a permanent thing.
Now of course, they have found their way into my heart and I would never give them up but I didn't necessarily acquire them for my own benefit, though I will say I have benefitted from having them, and they've benefitted to they extent they are well-cared for and loved, as opposed to being on the streets of Gary Indiana where they were previously. I don't think I am holier than thou, it just is what it is.
Of course. I don't care about animals. I keep pets for my own enjoyment. If I care about them, I would release them to the wild and never own one.
I try my best not to be hypocritical. When I am hypocritical, I will just admit it.
