This will probably be moved, but I think it's a great idea... with a few tweaks. It's long past time the US rationalized healthcare and started recognizing it as a human right. Literally every other western nation has managed it, along with many developing ones.

good luck getting the health insurance lobbyists to go along with that..
As long as lobbyist continue to dump money into the pockets of the current group of scumbag politicians in Washington, and, until they ban lobbyists from buying off every politician in congress, you can forget about ever seeing socialized medicine in this country..

In 1987, he said it would bankrupt the nation

Now, with health expenditures way up since then he change his tune and now supports-it

It's much more than medicare. Bernie is going to give everyone everything for 6% payroll tax.
No premiums, no co-pays and he threw in dental and vision as well.

It's an idea worth considering.

As with any healthcare bill, it should be debated with members of both parties, covering the full range of political wings in said parties. Unlike the recent GOP healthcare bill, which is both ****ty and as of now, entirely undemocratic in how it came to be.

Any attempt to exclude a party from the conversation is treason, in my humble opinion. You can't have a democracy where some aren't invited to participate.

Give Sanders a platform to introduce it, and let the debates ensue. This is how the Senate should work.

A country of entitled, whiny and lazy puppets does not deserve any more free stuff. The free stuff they already have should be removed. This guy is delusional and has no idea what reality is, like most people in the country these days, sadly.

If it's paid for in taxes, it's not free.

There is no upfront cost. What's happening is that we all buy into a mandatory insurance program, that will cover the costs. It's not really even that different from a private insurance system in this regard. The only difference is scale and the lack of a profit motive on behalf of the insurer.

It's also a system that exists in other parts of the world, and is more often that not well liked overall by those who have such a system. So, reality isn't the issue. Similar systems exist in reality.
