Putting aside the complete lack of evidence supporting the neoliberal/neocon warmongering narrative that the Russian government somehow “Hacked our election!” the simple reality is that all political states that have the economic resources to engage in espionage, have always and will continue to do so.

In the modern world, that spying virtually always involves some form of cyber-espionage. We know that Obama bugged Angela Merkel; we know that The United States and Israel joined forces (STUXNET) to sabotage centrifuges used in Iran’s nuclear development program; and we know that numerous US government agencies routinely use the internet to clandestinely spy on American citizens and foreign governments alike.

There can be little doubt that China, The DPRK, Russia, Israel, Iran, and other nations are spying on The United States more or less constantly. Nor can there be much doubt that The US continues to spy on all of those governments in return. It is almost a given that current cyber attacks against Russia are rooted in Unites States/ NATO operations.

Appears to be a relatively low-tech attack..but is growing in effectiveness.

No one has publicly claimed responsibility for the hoaxes. Officials have given conflicting accounts of who they suspect is behind them, ranging from Islamic State to security services in Ukraine, which has accused Russia of mounting cyber attacks on its power grid and other systems. Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko denied his country played any role, saying the Kremlin was seeking to turn Russia’s population against its neighbor.

“This has been an attack unprecedented by its size and unique for Russia,” said Sergey Nikitin, an expert in Moscow-based cybersecurity firm Group-IB. Hackers may use a chain of servers located in different jurisdictions – that may have conflicts with each other and don’t exchange information – to make a call, according to Nikitin. This, in addition to possible use of voice-modulation software and Google translate, make them impossible to trace, he said.
Awwwwwww, I will cry them a river, right after the games are wrapped up for the weekend.

Hmmm..at first, I thought you were off on a tangent...but if I'm reading this right..you believe that the current attacks against Russia are rooted in the US?

It is a big leap to go from intelligence gathering to direct action...not saying that you are wrong...just mulling over the consequences if you are right.

It is interesting that the techniques being used are the same as the Russian hacking group that did the same thing a year ago. The Russians have such a laundry list of enemies with motive...and this is such a 'low-tech' attack..that it could be anyone..ISIS, the Ukraine...European operators, and yes..the United States.

Heck..it could be some teens in a basement, somewhere in middle America...laughing their young @sses off.
