So, for the hardcore Republicans and Democrats out there, would you actually avoid and area because of politics?
After growing up in San Francisco / Marin and also living in Oregon for many years, I moved to West Virginia for three reasons - ultra-low property taxes, gorgeous, forested, mountainus state, and yes.....I knew above-all, it was a state that would never be invaded or governed by California-like liberals.

I get much more joy out of nature, climate, and scenery than I do people.
That's why California is just fine for me at the end of the day.
So far I feel the same, but a few more policies, laws, taxes, etc. may make it financially impossible even for people who are politically in tune with it all.

As do I, but I also want to keep as much of the money I earn as possible so that I can enjoy the benefits of living in such a place. That's why Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and many other states are a better choice for me than tax heavy states like Ca, NY and others.
Absolutely. Why wouldn't you? Politics affect laws that residents are subject to.
It does actually. A lot of liberal cities have a huge disparity from rich to poor. You either can't afford the neighborhood you feel safe in or you don't feel safe in the area you can afford. So it definitely plays a part.
Liberals and their meaning have changed and that makes their cities harder to live in. I wouldn't call most east or west coast cities average American dream towns. lol
I'll put it this way. Living in Oklahoma City has made me the liberal and the atheist I am today. The "Christians" that run this place and control it with an iron fist are the absolute worst kind. I'll be moving whenever I can finally afford to and politics is the primary reason why.
I suddenly do live in an area that is contrary to my political ideals. It wasn't always this way but when liberals turned into progressives/socialists it automatically made me pretty conservative, which is funny since I didn't change. I never planned on leaving but I'm starting to think California may actually be doomed and not just in a "we're dooooooomed" funny way. Who knows, I may end up moving due to politics even though I'm not even very political.
I keep my political views to myself, and I don't share it with strangers. I am okay here in California.
I came from Orange county , but i am living here in Riverside county because of family business. Two different places, almost two different culture. Neither is better or worse, just different.
