Doesn't matter what happened. The bottom line is that it's none of our business and the United States should BUTT OUT! We've committed enough crimes in Latin America. Let Venezuela figure it out themselves.
In socialism, the "people" own the "means of production."
That may sound good, but in reality it is nonsense.
Supposedly, the elected government is the "people." No, the government is not us, even if we voted for them.
So the government owns the "means of production." But what the heck can that mean?
In the early days of capitalism, companies were usually big factories, with expensive equipment. So the owners were rich investors. If you wanted to start a business, you just had to get the money together to buy the equipment.
It isn't like that anymore. Businesses don't necessarily require expensive equipment. They might just require a good innovative idea.
And most of all, businesses require marketing. Facebook, for example, is successful mostly because it was successful at marketing.
Businesses succeed because consumers "vote" for them with their money. And because people invest in their stocks. It all depends on society having faith in your enterprise, whatever it may be.
Socialist ideology ignores all of that. When do you hear socialists talk about the need for innovative ideas, or for marketing?
They don't understand what drives any society. Not just capitalist societies, but anything from hunter/gatherer tribes, to agricultural societies, and onwards.
A government can't drive a society. Government officials can't sit in their offices and figure out what everyone will need and how to provide it.
Socialists think money is evil. They don't understand that if we didn't have money, we would be trading chickens. But soon we would re-invent a money system because trading chickens is inconvenient.
Socialists think corporations are evil, but they think democratic government are good, since we voted for them. No, giant corporations and governments join forces and do whatever they want.
Socialists ignore all the above problems and continue to believe no matter what. They call capitalist countries socialist if they have high taxes and generous welfare programs. No, that is not socialism.
In socialism, the government owns and runs the economy.
It didn't work for the Soviet Union, or Cambodia, or Viet Nam, or China, or Venezuela, or Cuba, or North Korea.
And communist utopian communities have never worked well anywhere, and they have been tried. The ones that survived are tyrannical cults.
But the Left won't stop dreaming of a world without money and without war or competition. In other words, a world without LIFE.
linking a styxenhammer666 video is probably not the best as he is someone who once thought it was a good idea to become a Satanist. The thing is that while Venezuela was socialist, they did it under a dictator and having a dictator doesn't really point into proper socialist thought, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worker...elf-management
Either way I'm a capitalist although I do believe in welfare and universal healthcare. My suburb of Katy, has one of the largest concentrations of Venezuelans in the U.S (Katyzuela is a nickname) so I get to interact with those that lived there.
I can't shake off the sickening feeling that Trump is more or less a right wing version of Hugo Chavez.
