Roy Moore is a West Point graduate, Vietnam combat veteran, and former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. The people of Alabama know him well. Some (mostly Democrats) hate him but most voters like him.
There wasn't much difference between Luther Strange (Tulane graduate) and Moore on issues. However, the GOPe PACS bought millions in inaccurate ads, for instance saying that Moore is weak on illegal immigration, which was ridiculous. The ads claimed that Moore didn't support building a border wall. The ads were correct in that a wall isn't Moore's first choice; he supports troops on the border. In no way is he weak on illegal immigration.
Ads like that supported the idea that Strange was a swamp creature.
As an Alabamian (born and raised here) I agree with this statement 100%. Luther Strange is a crooked politician. Since we actually live here unlike many who want to comment we see this more often than they do.
As someone else also pointed out, Moore was removed from his seat for refusing to go against the Constitution and to comply with an egregious order from the Supreme Court, who again has no decision in what a judge displays in his court. How many politicians do you know who will stand their ground instead of caving in just to go with the flow?

Egregious SC Order? - maybe in Alabama and in the minds of right wing zealots like Roy Moore and perhaps you, but the SC has spoken and so has the MAJORITY of Americans and that is that homosexuals have rights just like anyone else and same sex marriage is the law of the land.

He did graduate from West Point. And was in Vietnam. I do wonder though why his own troops there wanted to kill him.

It would take a miracle for the Dems to defeat Moore in Alabama. While I don't support many of his beliefs on homosexuality, etc., let's remember that 81% of Alabama voters supported a referendum to define marriage as between one man and one woman in the state constitution back in 2006.
