It's right here in a video you provided THAT THINGS ARE NOT GETTING DONE.
Obviously you haven't been paying attention. Things are getting done, with as much damage as they're dealing with it only appears that things aren't getting done.
They've...
Cleared/rebuilt the docks.
Cleared/rebuilt the airports/flight lines, and got air traffic controllers.
Trying to rebuild the cell towers for communications.
Opened up 11 major roads/highways (probably even more at this point).
Opened up many hospitals.
Medevaced critical patients to hospitals in the Continental US.
Opened up some gas stations.
Created distribution points for food/water/fuel/etc.
They've had search and rescue teams searching the island, as of last Thursday the teams had covered 90% of the island.
^That is just a short list of things they've been getting done.
What is hindering them is the shortage of truck drivers, and, the destroyed power plant.
They are sending truckers from the Continental US to help with distribution of the supplies.
The power plant was basically on it's last legs before the hurricanes hit, it really hadn't been taken care of before the storms, and after the storms it is now completely useless. They will have no choice but to tear it down and completely rebuild it. For now everything is running on generators.
These people are putting in long, hard, backbreaking hours to get things accomplished. And what is their thanks for doing what they are doing? It's the lazy people who are sitting behind their keyboards, the MSM, Hollyweird actors, the do-nothing politicians/failed politicians (Pelosi, Hillary, Bernie, etc), who all think 'they' know better, who are snarking on the relief workers, and those in the government, because it 'looks' like things aren't getting done ... geez!!
Has the left figured out yet that the mayor is lying, unwilling to attend meetings with FEMA while other mayors are, and is very busy taking reporters out, but no relief supplies, to the area? And how about that shirt? Oh, also, did you notice all the crates of relief supplies behind her while she lied?
THIS is ALL he does... "She started it..." It never ends. He attacks others, they attack him back, OR he responds to a percieved slight OR just criticizes people regularly, yet, he becomes insulted. This is what he spends his presidential time on and we have to cope with this ass. Dear Lord, if we only had a count of every example of his doing this since he has been there, it would be enormous.
As an island in the Caribbean, they should have planned ahead better for this sort of weather event. And it's hard to have much sympathy for any of them when they get decades of beautiful island weather and none of that nasty cold weather and blizzards that we get in the US. They live in a tropical paradise, but no place is perfect.
+repped. I agree
Trump can throw as much money & it won't help PR instantly. Blame the incompetent policticans like the mayor of PR and how broke the government is.
Blaming Trump is just a deflection of who is really at fault.
Oh stop. TX was hit first by Hurricane Harvey, so the disaster relief efforts started there... and TX is still a huge expensive mess. A week later, FL got devastated by Hurricane Irma.... and FL is still recovering from that.
It was just very bad timing that Puerto Rico's disaster happened so soon after the first two big hurricanes. FEMA is stretched thin. And... Puerto Rico is an island and not close to the US mainland. It takes time for the relief ships to get there.
And Puerto Rican should just be patient. What they are going through now just balances out how perfect their weather usually is.
Anyway, I don't see how any other US president could do that much better than Trump with having three weather disaster so close together. Again, don't forget the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. They are still suffering and struggling to recover. In particular, the Texans are having to deal with toxic waste contaminations. In both Texas and Florida, there are mold issues in the homes.
The level of ignorance in this position is ridiculous. First and foremost, Puerto Rico experienced BOTH Irma and Maria but the latter hit them hardest. It was the opposite of us in St. Thomas. Puerto Ricans were sending aid, including manpower, to us in the Virgin Islands when they were hit with Maria. A number of people couldn't even get to their families but continued to serve our community without complaint.
Secondly there are building codes that are in place to deal with the winds and waters. There are ways to secure a home However, there is no way to predict the manner in which a hurricane will hit and the level of destruction that will occur.
Cold weather and blizzards are not comparable and island weather is not simply beautiful outside of hurricanes. There are heavy rains and flooding during rainy season. How silly and uninformed that comment sounds.
And I am speaking firsthand and someone who experience Irma and Maria in the Caribbean. You are blabbering about the hurricanes and you dont even know who the victims of Irma were...Puerto Rico experienced Irma as well.
Numerous communities need aid right now and don't need the ignorant commentary from those who are beyond clueless about virtually every aspect of the hurrricane disasters.
Just in case a responsible news source isn't good enough for the leftists here, even CNN is reporting it.
The people of Puerto Rico, particularly truck drivers, aren't bothering to show up for work and get it delivered.
Really? Aren't bothering to show up to work? Goodness, these comments are so uninformed.
Stop with the left/right nonsense.
Have you bothered to check the weather since Maria? The islands have experienced so much rain, which has caused tons of flooding. Have you stopped to think that people may have difficulty getting to work? How do you know that pepole have cars that survived Maria?
Just two nights ago, I got an urgent call from a friend to pick her up from work. She couldn't get out. The place was flooding. She couldn't walk home. Rocks and dirt were coming loose and falling into the roads. Some roads were like rivers. My old street has a sinkhole and is inaccessible. Do you think Puerto Rico was any different? They are only a few miles from us.
Bottom Line the Mayor of San Juan is opting out of the process and she bleaming Trump like Mayor Ray and Gov Blanco in Katrina.
