Perhaps he should help to "fix" it by supporting President Trump instead of the GOP establishment who can't stand the fact that an "outsider" won the election.

Perhaps Kasich is part of "the swamp." Ohio, where I live, went for Trump. I'm sure that makes Kasich (who refused to quit, hanging on like a bad cold that refuses to go away), crazy.

In reality, I don't even know what Trump is in terms of policy because he pretty much has no principles and will flip to any position he thinks will get him the most applause. I would have said a legislative win, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case - it's not just his failure to accomplish anything legislatively, but I really think he doesn't much care one way or the other, he is just happy when he gets any positive attention. But looking at Kasich's policy positions and record - speaking as a Liberal, I shudder in horror at the idea of him being elected President, we are on the opposite side of pretty much every issue.

Given that Trump's popularity continues to decline and it was merely a fluke of the electoral college that put him in office in the first place, I think that a third party candidate with true conservative bona fides could make a strong run for 2020. Maybe a Kasich/McMullin ticket?
But as a liberal as you call yourself, what is conservative to you might be something very different to those who consider themselves to be conservative.
I am ambivalent toward Kasich because frankly I do not know enough about him to make an informed judgment.

As to your last two comments, they are both wrong. Trump did not win based on a "fluke of the EC", as he and Hillary both knew the way our presidential elections have been run since our founding. Why Hillary spent more time campaigning in strongholds like NY & CA rather than swing states is beyond comprehension. Then again, she was such a flawed and disliked candidate, it likely wouldn't have made much of a difference.
So Trump won fair and square, not by some "fluke".

As to a 3rd party candidate having any chance in 2020, the odds are at 0%
The most popular 3rd party candidate in our history was former president Roosevelt, and he obviously lost by a landslide.
The most modern popular 3rd party candidate was Perot, and again, he did nothing other than help another candidate get elected, by splitting votes among his candidacy and that of Bush Sr.
So no such strong run will occur, at least not with any hope of actually getting elected.

If you compare the platform of the DNC back in the 1990's to today, vs. the RNC platform of the same period to today, you will see that it is the Democrats who have made a large shift to the left, not the Republicans making a hard shift to the right.
Yet all you ever heard the liberal media and talking heads say is that the (R's) have shifted.
Maybe it is because the leaders and most vocal (D) supporters are so far in left field, even moderation seems hard right to them.

Newt isn't conservative, he's an insider. He said he'd vote for the bailout becasue it's better than doing nothing. That isn't conservative. Next time you spout off, make sure you know what you're talking about.

Fun to watch all the crap flying on this thread. One group saying that Kasich is a RINO and is actually more like a Democrat and right behind them is another group saying how he is too much of a Right-Wing Conservative.

Kind of makes you think that some people just like to shout, no matter what

Considering how he stands on the issues, he was never a Republican anyway.

Don't really care what he does, but wish he would just stay out of the news. He is just "icky".

He sang the Republican ticket on social issues and abortion, and that's enough for us not on the wacky right...

He should leave the GOP before they kick him out.... he promised to back the nominee and backed out, he isn't going to win the GOP primary, he is looking for an excuse to switch parties.... and still lose...

The problem is that you didn't post any facts, but merely opinions. And your silly argument was already debunked by the fact that Hillary Clinton, a corporate neoliberal, was the party's nominee last year. So your theory that another Third Way (AKA "New Democrat") couldn't wrap up the nomination in a party supposedly beset by communists is a lousy one. If that is your best effort, I advise you to stick with selling knives.
