We have always had beautiful and gracious first ladies....it's not like Melinia is the first What makes Melinia different is that she is in the background. She has no cause she wants to promote. She's like a non entity and only shows up when she needs to.
Go to the White House youtube website and see plenty of videos of Melania and her causes related to children's education and health.
The haters will continue to hate on the most asinine things.
If it was someone else, let's say Michelle Obama, social media and the internet would be swooning and brown nosing her for how modern and great her Tims looked.

Since she wasn't the one elected and we don't pay her, what is the issue with that? I was a military wife, there were years where I also only showed up when I needed to, it wasn't my job. She is not the first that is not real visible, Laura Bush tended to stay in the background, as was her right.
This partisan nitpicking of First Ladies drives me nuts, especially when it's about their looks. I can honestly not think of an unattractive First Lady in my lifetime. It drove me nuts when they said stuff about Michelle Obama being ugly, who was in reality a quite attractive lady. It highly annoyed me when they commented about Barbara Bush looking old when she just looked her age. It even drove me nuts when people harped on Hillary Clinton and her headbands. Melania Trump is a beautiful lady who is just trying to fulfill the duties of a position she never wanted.

Can someone please explain why Timberland boots are such a fashion faux pas in this situation?
The tweets speak for themselves -- they are being snarky about her putting on the boots as if she is going to do some real hiking or walking in areas where boots would be necessary.
It's a ridiculous comment, not worth pointing out as if EVERYONE was thinking it.
A handful of people tweeted about it. Not exactly a huge movement.
When I think of all the terrible things Republicans said about Michelle Obama, truly terrible things, it really shows how different the rules are. I see no mocking, nothing more than mentioning the boots and there is immediate outrage.
