California permanently eliminates high school exit exam requirement - SFGate

Quote:
SACRAMENTO — California has permanently scrapped its high school exit exam under legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday.
Why don't we just give people diplomas without them having to go to school, then we wouldn't even need schools and that would save a lot of taxpayer dollars right there.

Quote:
The state canceled the test amid questions about the Exit Exam, which state officials said was not aligned with what’s being taught in schools. It did not match up with a switch to Common Core standards, which emphasize critical thinking rather than rote learning.
So you switch to **** core and the students couldn't pass the test because you didn't teach them anything.

It’s part of the liberal plan to keep minorities down. The rich send their kids to private school. It’s pretty obvious to me.

Do you live in California?

So there are tests at grade levels in Georgia...they are easier than the courses my kids took.......

So are you objecting because you think the California exit exam had merit and truly measured the academic competence 0r just the fact there is no exit exam?

So you want to kick California out because of this ?

"The state canceled the test amid questions about the Exit Exam, which state officials said was not aligned with what’s being taught in schools."

So state officials recognize a flaw in a test and you want to boot them out of the country because the test is being eliminated for 3 years?

"but the legislature voted in 2015 to drop it for the high school classes of 2015 to 2018."

Somehow I suspect the reason you want to kick out California has nothing to do with their education.

How about we expel states that don't pull their weight economically?
Cali would be in and half of the South would be out.

The real flaw in the test was that contained math (basic algebra) that is too hard for many California high school students, even if they make an effort and have good teachers.

Yet there are tons of extremely successful companies in California hiring very educated employees that other parts of the country would do anything to get. I'm sure they are eager to hear the opinions of those places. Obviously California is finding the level of education there good enough to hire and the high school education is enough for them to get accepted into college.
