La Raza doesn’t mean “race”.

In the context of the celebration it means THE PEOPLE.

In Spain, it’s called Día de la Hispanidad. Which sort of translate as “that which is or is related to Hispania” which is what the Romans called the Iberian peninsula.

Secondly, yes Puerto Ricans have high rates of marrying out and or procreating with other race/ethnic groups, higher than most, especially with Dominican Americans, American blacks, Itailian Americans, Irish Americans, Mexican Americans, Cuban Americans, Jamaican Americans, & Haitian Americans. But these offspring tend to have high amounts of Puerto Rican pride, especially when one of the parents are plain ol American black or American white. But when one parent is Rican and the other is Dominican, Jamaican, Italian, or Mexican, the pride is less pronounced becuz both parents are "foreign" or "cultured".
Another driver of the island’s population loss is falling fertility. In 2013, the average woman in Puerto Rico was estimated to have 1.3 children during her lifetime, a measure called the total fertility rate. A decade ago, the fertility rate was 1.9. Historically, fertility has dropped during economic recessions.

Puerto Rico

If talking the mainland, you might be right, of talking Puerto Rico, it's in a death spiral. Even IF Irma or Maria did NOT happen.

This kind of talk obfuscates U.S history.

Historically, race was not an ambiguous concept. It was only determined by the law. If somebody was legally white, that meant that they were white - for all purposes.

People of Spanish origin were always considered to be white in the United States.

Their current status today as minorities under the guise of the term "Hispanic", is a recent political fabrication concocted in the 1970s. People did not become "hispanic" untill the 80's.

Nope! It means the race. Translate it on Babelfish. The "people" are the Hispanic ethnic group and race aka bloodlines. Either way it's an egotistical term.

Maybe there is low birth rate in Puerto Rico itself. But birth rates of most Puerto Rican communities in the mainland US is pretty average.

I'm talking facts about U.S history. Before the "hispanic" category existed, nearly all people of Spanish speaking origin were considered to be white - especially Mexicans, Cubans and Puerto Ricans. That's not my opinion. That's historical reality.

The reason the "hispanic" concept was invented was to artificially make them into minorities so that they could receive federal funding and qualify for minority benefits (Affirmative Action). Fact.

I was thinking the same thing when I was a senior in high school. I think there will be a day when most Puerto Ricans in the states will no longer be full blooded Puerto Ricans, the same with the Irish, Italians, and Germans.

He did not immigrate. Please show us what laws he broke. The US also did not exist at that time, so he did not violate any US immigration laws.
