Military Times poll of our troops has bad news for Donald Trump.

Among all troops: 44% approval rating for the president
Among officers: 30% approval rating

It's bad news for Trump, who wants to loved as Commander-in-Chief.

It's good news for the country -- it shows our military leadership correctly views the president as unfit to lead.

The poll is irrelevant.

Trump is the commander in chief and officers and enlisted are bound by oath to obey.

I am not too surprised.

Now, when Mr. Trump became President, he announced that he was leaving battleground decisions to the generals. Some raised their eyebrows at this, since the President is Commander in chief.

Ah! Now we see why. When asked if he, President Trump, had ordered the troops to Niger, Mr. Trump says that he did not, but left it to his generals.

So, if things go well on the battlefield, Mr. Trump will claim credit. If things do not go well, he can point to his generals for blame ("My generals", he likes to say, until something awful happens).

Past Presidents would say "I am Commander in Chief, and so the responsibility lies with me". Mr. Trump has, cleverly in his mind, dodged having to make such a statement.

Actually, according to your article,

Enlisted service members are much more enamored with the president than officers. Almost half of all enlisted troops who responded to the survey said they have a favorable view of Trump. Among officers, it was less than one in three.

More than 53 percent of officers said they had an unfavorable view of the president.

Joseph Lobban, an intelligence soldier who retired last year as a sergeant first class, said the divide isn’t surprising.

Enlisted people like a man who says what he means and would like to see the job done, no frills, no questions asked,” Lobban said. “From the way President Trump has presented himself, he has been that kind of person.”

I see this as a good news. Officers (leadership) can keep Trump's ego in check, while enlisted want a much more relaxed rule of engagement. A healthy balance can be achieved.

Still, it doesn't matter. He is the president and command-in-chief, and has all the power even if his approval rate is 1%.

Putin has an approval rate of 80%, and you guys still don't think he is the president to lead either.

So they polled only 1100 active troops and this is supposed to represent all the enlisted troops? Man you liberals sure do get your panties in a bunch with all these skewed polls but whatever helps you sleep at night.
