It's their island, if they don't want independence than who are we to argue
You seem to want to argue over who gets to restore their electricity.. Its weird.. I wonder if the people of PR are glad you "won".. Whose gonna pay the hundreds of contractors already there?
Are you contradicting what prepa actually said and arguing that they do in fact have the money in hand to pay the down payment asked by other contractors?
I hope Whitefish gets what it is due for services rendered thus far plus a huge settlement on top of that. Puerto Rico deciding they don't want a perceived public relations issue rather than allowing the company to do their contracted job should be costly. Just the mobilization costs for a project of this magnitude and location will be exorbitant and I don't think that anyone here would begrudge them compensation correct?
They have been working for almost a month already.
$8 million is 2.6% of the contracted amount. My guess is a down payment would have been much more than that.
So what? That alone implies guilt? By that standard, all NFL rookies would be guilty of a crime.
What's your point?
I was responding to a post that suggested that these contractors might not get paid. Whitefish has received money.
And there are two issues with that. First, there are the exorbitant amounts Whitefish was charging per man-hour. $240 per man-hour was their bottom figure, almost $500 per man-hour for supervisors. ON TOP of the $400 per diem to pay for meals and housing.
Second, Puerto Rico Electric said they couldn't afford the mutual-aid agreements that are standard operating procedure after cataclysmic events like hurricanes, but they could afford to pay Whitefish $8 million dollars?
They haven't chosen to stop it. Elon Musk is helping them. They just chose not to use a criminal crony of the Trump administration to fail at doing anything in exchange for $300 million.
Exactly right.
I believe Whitefish might have been unable to do a good job to restore PR's power. The entire selection process stinks to the high heavens. Most Americans believe this was a blameworthy action that reeks of corruption and cronyism.

I guess so. Since several news organizations are reporting that Whitefish has been paid 8 to 10 million dollars already.
