Chuck Schumer, among others tried to get rid of the Diversity Lottery in 2013. The GOP Controlled House blocked them from doing it, and allowed it to remain.

Spoken by someone who doesn't know what that verse means. Hint: It's a prophecy, not condoning the use of weapons.

And please, lets not get into this "sensible restrictions" business. A myriad of those (and a LOT of not so sensible ones) already exist. In terms of wise men worth listening to Tsun Tsu and Myamoto Musashi are ranked right up there as well. And this "mowing 500 people at a time" thing is being a bit ...sensational. Just a tad. Firepower capable of that level of mayhem is not available to citizens. So further "sensible" restrictions are unnecessary.
You can buy any weapon at a gun show with absolutely no background checks. How is that sensible? One man can buy 50 semi-automatic rifles, use a cheap adapter to turn them into automatic weapons and gun down 500 innocent people in a few mins. Nothing sensational about it, it just happened quite easily. How is that sensible?

There is a mass shooting nearly every single day in this country. That's called a problem.

Trump has tweeted about it, because it is where Terrorists are sent after crimes against the US are committed.

No one knows if it will happen, just speculation for today.

It was dumb to even raise the issue, it does nothing to prevent terrorism quite the opposite.

Guess this means we will have to ban Home Depot box truck rentals. And end the Box Truck Show loophole. The problem is rental box trucks. We have more than any other country and can be rented without a background check.

Because the problem certainly is not the person who did it who just so happens to be a Muslim extremist.

You're actually calling ME clueless. Scripture interpretations aside and looking at your second paragraph where do you firearms phobics come up with this stuff? Seriously, firearms sellers renting space at a gun show are ALL FFL dealers, federally licensed and ALL sales of firearms must have a BC and 4473 form done. What "cheap adapter" are you talking about that makes a full auto out of a semi receiver? The infamous bump stock I'm guessing. Which is a notoriously unreliable mechanism, and does not make any firearm truly fully automatic capable.

This perpetual outright LIE that gun shows do not require BCs to be done has gotten really old. That's a total fail. While "gunning down 500 innocent people in just a few minutes" sounds REALLY scary, that sort of capability is just not available to citizens without a title 3 license and 200 dollar per firearms tax stamp. That is a very invasive and detailed opening up of ones life to the feds and there has never been a case of a title 3 class owned firearm ever being used in any crime.

And that bit about buying any firearm you want at a gun show, despite the fact that a BC is required on all vendor sales, is just flat out false. It's a lie. End of line. Which you would know if you were a shooter and had any experience with firearms purchases and the laws that go with them. Hint backatcha....you need to do your homework before tossing this sort of garbage out because you're making yourself look quite foolish.

Here's another lil' tidbit of information about the true biggest source of criminally misused firearms. And no, they're not stolen from private owners or purchased at gunshows from lawful licensed dealers in full compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. They are stolen from both military and even LE store houses. I worked on an Army weapons epot for 20+ years. Every year the amount of material gone missing would boggle you. Not just firearms and ammunition but destructive devices and high explosives both cat 1 and 2.

When LE takes down arms caches from gangs and other criminals very seldom do they disclose where these weapons actually came from. That's because the greatest percentage came from stolen military stockpiles. Hate to tell ya man, but this stuff you're touting as fact here is about as plausible as a screen door on a submarine. You're trying to use the same scare tactic, fear mongering stuff that hoplophobes have used forever now when banning this that or the other type of firearms comes up. First there was "Saturday night specials" that had to go, but that's all that was needed, then the whole "assault rifle (and pistol) bit became the scare term, next it will be "long range sniper rifles", then "assault shotguns" or whatever crazily scary sounding terms you guys can cook up.

"Evil" devices like muzzle brakes, extended pistol grips, rail systems , what have you, have all manner of insidious purpose attached to them when you don't even know what the actual purpose of such accoutrements really is in fact. Reading what you've written here shows that you are rather woefully out of your depth because there is no real world working knowledge of firearms, firearms laws both state and federal level, and horrible stereotyping of firearms owners.

You would have people believe we are all cold blooded wannabe mass murderers who just don't care about the levels of violence on our streets. In truth we are largely quite more keenly aware of that violence than folks with views like yours. That violence and criminality has actually touched our lives, and left lasting effects. The lady who I loved more than life itself is dead because of that sort of verminous, criminal behavior. I'm more than a little certain I have more insight into the problem of violence in this country than you do. And I watched the "justice" system give my precious lady just about everything but justice.

It's high time that the real problem of CRIMINALS with illegally obtained firearms was addressed and this business of blaming the gun, and honest people who use firearms for lawful purposes inside the law stops. All these lies about how criminals actually get their guns in the greatest percentage, this drivel about how gun shows are criminal arms bazzars like downtown Mogadishu, this outright myth that CCW holders are cruising the streets looking for a reason to get into a gunfight, "blood in the streets and Wild West showdowns" predictions just need to be shown for the sensationalist falsehoods that they are.

The problem is painfully obvious. It's not the weaponry; its the people who man them. The people need to be watched, whether they are the disturbed next door and among us or the Muslim extremists. We shouldn't do this by setting up another line for law-abiding, decent people to wade through. We need to all be vigilant.

That is what the police mean by "if you see something, say something." Mr. Paddock and this "gentleman" probably cased numerous places. If only he'd been caught while casing. Numerous people would not be injured or dead.

Or perhaps with a country of 300 million sometimes things happen. The Las Vegas shooter showed very little signs of wanting to do what he did. This guy in NY slipped through the cracks.

Best we can do is vet those who want to move here better.
