A whopping 45% of people don't pay federal income tax. If we include those who receive benefits and their net income tax is less than 0, that number would be even higher.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/beltway.../#63d57b8561cb

In short, currently, their net contribution to the society is 0 or negative. I highly doubt any of those people would pay any corporate tax.

I have to ask. What's their fair share to the society?

All of the above is fakenews. Everyone pays taxes.

Yes, not everyone pays federal income taxes, as long as they have the appropriately super-low incomes, but they are still paying state, city, sales, property, and user taxes.

Is the OP arguing that a single mom making 15k needs to pay more taxes, to subsidize tax cuts for billionaire corporate raiders who could not spend all their money even if they tried? LOL.

How about they pay at least a hundred bucks just to say they paid something?? Anyway, isn't the whole argument about those of us getting screwed over SALT and not deducting state tax that the two are not at all related??? So why is it related in this case? Why could "well hey they pay local taxes" ok when discussing this topic but totally not related for us middle class?

1. We are talking about federal income tax. Please focus.
2. What's the fair share for the single mom making $15K? Her net contribution to the society would be negative.
3. Corporate raiders? Did they make their money illegally? If so, please name names so that we can prosecute them.

The Federal Government needs money to operate. By capping and eliminating credits and deductions they will get their money.

Cities and states have been increasing their taxes and those get deducted from your Fed taxes.

You are getting squeezed by multiple government entities and all of them want money and every year want more money.

Can't blame the Fed here as too many now pay nothing in Fed taxes.

There are several layers of government and each have their own bucket of money.
Paying local taxes does NOTHING to fund the Federal government.

We should have a 10% flat tax for Federal, personal income tax. No deductions.

No, we are talking taxes. Focusing on one, relatively small component of overall taxation, without considering overall tax burden, is mindless, irrelevant cherrypicking.

What does this mean? How is raising children a "negative" activity for society? You want to kill all the elderly, since they no longer "contribute"? Once you retire, everyone should be slaughtered?

Often, yes, they make their money illegally. We have a criminal President; why do you think it's unlikely that many of the wealthy have ill-gotten gains? I am technically wealthy and know tons of people with illegal earnings.

And, sorry, but, no, I'm not going to compile a list of thousands of white collar criminals; you can do that on your own time if truly interested. You can start with the White House, currently under criminal investigation.
