I like to hunt. I would never hunt an endangered animal. I don't hunt birds of prey. I don't hunt any animal that I don't intend to eat.
The guy is an obvious low life and he gives all hunters a bad name.

"Brought to justice"? I missed the part where there is any report of the hunter doing anything, you know, illegal.

Anti-hunters continue to show their stupidity.

This has nothing to do with legal hunting of animals for food.

Disgusting beyond words.

I agree. No reason at all to shoot these magnificent and very rare creatures. The same goes for many animals, there is just no point to killing them, take a picture and be proud you got close enough and did not kill it.

I agree.

That guy deserves some sort of punishment for ending the life of a snow leapard.

Just checked. Snow leopards are not covered by CITES.

The petition is silly. Unless he's broken laws, are they suggesting that the government arrest anyone they don't like? Cause that could lead to... consequences.

That said, I think most sport hunting is distasteful, with the exception of the kind that contributes to conservation (hunting the old elephant that needs to be put down anyway).
The are still classified as "vulnerable." If you read this article, you will see that means they are still worth protecting.

Killing an animal for a trophy is cruel and pompous. If a person has to eat, that is different.

People are outraged because the animal has a pretty hide. But you need to think about this logically. What are the hunting laws where the animal was shot? Did it attack?

You also need to look at societal value. It's an over-sized cat. We have these "outdoor" cats where I live that run around and wreck things. They dig through garbage, poop in gardens, mate, and kill birds. Not much value there.

That's not always the case.

When an animal such as a big cat must be culled and the fee from a trophy hunt benefits the reserve, a trophy hunt is a very good thing.

I'm talking about when experts at a reserve deem that there are too many of a species for the good of the other animals at the reserve and a cull must take place.
