Because they make bad choices and are stupid to live in Tennessee when they could live in Connecticut?
At least you had the courage to offer an (very weak) answer. No, the answer is that the person in Tenn or me in Washington state should pay the same federal income tax as a person in Conn, NJ, NY if we have the same income....I'm tired of it.
says who? They are paying more than the mooch states.. what number is fair to you? B/c you seem to have this on an individual level....funny huh? You keep neglecting to address that...
Wonder why those states are richer to begin with?
SOME are rich there, but there are hell of a lot of poor people as well, as once again 1/3rd the nations welfare recipients reside there.
Do these people not matter to you? You want to ignore them and gloss over their existance

They'll say anything to try to justify being a bunch of takers who are dependent on the states and people they hate but who make their lifestyle possible.
pls by all emans keep up with the ad hominem attacks to fill in the blanks for your complete lack of a cogent argument here, it does a good job of letting the few remaining grown ups here know to ignore your posts for salient points.
except if you actually existed in this reality, this plan kills middle and upper middle class in those states while giving a HUGE cut to the "rich" in all states. So the lawyer in NY or the accountant in CA has to pay more so that the Koch's can get a fat cut.
Then address that but let's keep this change where the rich in conn, NY, NJ, Cali no longer get a reduced federal income tax bill.

Rich in CT, NY, NJ isn't a 200K family of four..Sorry. And wasn't your side big against double taxation? You seem to be when estate tax or carried interest comes up...but now it's ok...
No one (who isn't a crazed Trump cultist) opposes higher taxes on the rich, but Trump's proposal seeks to punish states for being economically productive.
Rich states already subsidize poor states to the tune of megabillions. The only reason Alabama doesn't look like Mexico is because of states like NY and CA.
Also, Republicans would lose all these states for the next 50 years. They would basically ensure that Republicans would be dead in any economically productive state.
No, eliminating the SALT deduction would not punish states for being productive, it would remove the incentive for those states to maintain such excessive state tax rates. It's up to each state to decide what their state tax rates will be, but if they choose to tax their citizens to death, as CA does, that should have nothing to do with federal tax rates.
Moreover, the vast majority of productive people, whether they live in New York or Alabama are Republicans and are paying the taxes. States like New York are wealthy because of productive business people. They vote Democratic because there are many more people living there, many of them leaches, who vote Democrat. In many states like Alabama, the leaches don't vote, but you better believe they are Democrats.
