This is obviously a major cause of obesity, diabetes, heart trouble and numerous other health issues for so many in this country. But maybe, the sugar-high that so many perpetually have, is also responsible for generating the mob of Trump-worshiping deplorables? If they were all put on a cold-turkey, sugar-free regimen for a few weeks and cleaned out their systems, maybe they'd gain control of themselves and start thinking straight for the first time?
Yes, even the "Asian food" (Chinese, Thai, Filipino, ...) here in America has a strong sweet taste.

Spicy Asian food is one of my favorite things to eat.. you're right on the sugar and salt Americans really need to consume much much less of it.
Sugar is proven to be one the main reason for the health problems in the U.S. It is most certainly the main reason for obesity.
A 20 oz. bottle of Coke is 240 calories, has a ton of sugar, AND high fructose corn syrup in it. That is more calories, and more sugar, than a 20 oz glass of light beer.
You are better off drinking light beer or a bottle of Guinness, than a Coke. It's a fact.

You’ve discovered it. Congradulations. The real secret is our delicious sweet iced tea. All of us deplorables love it. MAGA.
This is somewhat misleading because some countries consume a lot more calories than others.
It's basic math; If I eat the exact same thing as you do but I eat twice as much of it, I will consume twice as much sugar.
Try correlating the sugar rate to the calorie rate. You will notice that the US is 2nd in calories, Ireland is 8th and Germany is 10th. So naturally those countries will consume more sugar.
I've traveled all over the world and have not noticed less sugar in our food than other countries.
We should not only look at calories either.
Polysaccharides and protein have the same calories as fructose, but they are not sweet and less addictive. Moreover, polysaccharides dissolve slowly in the body and thus are less likely to convert to fat. Fructose consumption leads to sharp increase of glucose in the blood, which has a couple of problems besides gaining fat.
Polysaccharide food (rice, wheat, corn) also make people feel "full" and stop eating.
Portion sizes are America's biggest problem. We're fat because we're greedy. Fruit has sugar, too, but I would bet many people think eating 10 bananas is healthier than a can of Sprite.
So demonizing one type of food will not keep you healthy. It's all about moderation.
That's part of the problem though, the ingredients themselves have sugar (or even HFCS) in them when they shouldn't.
Only in the US do you have to carefully check that the yoghurt, peanut butter, or tomato sauce you're buying to make a recipe with isn't loaded with high fructose corn syrup.

There need be no theory. We all saw what happened when NYC or other places tried to tamp down disease and suffering by cutting down the size of 64oz drinks.
There is a Cabal - a LOBBY - in this country and it's more tuned toward Big Ag (corn syrup) than sugar...although they are the same thing.
I feel like I am repeating myself, but "free market" capitalism WANTS you to be unhealthy and die suffering after many interventions.
1. They sell you all the crap your entire life.
2. They then sell you all the stuff to deal with obesity, diabetes, etc.
I mean - if you don't add a human element (and Predatory Capitalism does not), then the best course of action is always to slowly poison the population. Consider just two numbers.
THREE TRILLION - spent on health care each year in the USA (double what it should be).
FIVE PLUS TRILLION - spent on food and food services
The two of those are linked and they represent 1/2 our GDP. They make the military look like spare change.
And so, we get the society and government we deserve. As long as people are going to yap about their "freedom" to weigh 350 lbs and corporations are going to make more when things are worse for all of us.....this is going to be what happens.
It's basic common sense and logic. Reward....in the trillions...can't be stopped by a discussion.

Actually fructose doesnt spike blood sugar glucose does. Fructose goes to the liver like alcohol. The fructose component is the cause of most health problems in excess. I dont get how agave is marketed as a health food....these same people will badmouth HFCS and have no idea what theyre talking about.
