Mapleton cops find family of 4, and dog, dead in suspected murder-suicide - The Salt Lake Tribune

Scottsdale Police: Four people dead following shooting at home - Story | KSAZ

Seems like there are more and more incidents of households swimming in debt with lots of financial problems.

It seems like during past recessions when people were going to bankrupt left and right that similar situations were not happening as frequently.

I think I heard that the Las Vegas mass murderer was also having financial problems (gambling losses). (Can’t find it on Google.)

I don't think that these days are any different than any other time. There have always been people in financial hell. I have been there myself.

The weapons are more deadly though.

When we have serious political turmoil, as we have right now, our murder rate goes up:

"the homicide rate―correlated closely with four distinct phenomena: political instability; a loss of government legitimacy; a loss of fellow-feeling among members of society caused by racial, religious, or political antagonism; and a loss of faith in the social hierarchy."

Oh yes, I agree 100%.

If the govt had not bailed out the banks when the housing crisis hit, we would all be living in a 'walking dead' type of world, total anarchy, breakdown of society. it was over extending that led to this happening, but we are still doing the same exact thing.

I think maybe our world needed that 'reset'.

Suicides spiked during the 1930s.

The term “mass shooting” originated in the 1930s:

Alright, for the first link in Mapleton though, the family was wealthy. The husband worked for Nestle.
It's not a financial issue. The wife, Jessica, is French, and there is a big chance that she's the one who "initiated" the shooting / murder.

It kills me because a couple of weeks ago, around Sep, she posted a message in a French speaking Facebook group for expats in North America and she specifically said that she misses speaking French, that the only ones who understood her were her husband and her children, and that it was very difficult to meet local people. She also had some difficulties with the language. And after that, this story. All she wanted was to meet French persons and enjoy an "aperitif", and meet people the "French" way.

She was even expected to meet a French person this week-end, so there's that.

Anyway, the first link does not corroborate your story about debt. If anything, money was not a problem at all. But languages, integration and loneliness were...
