As I was standing in the checkout line at the grocery I heard this student talking about his foreign vacation with the lady in front of her. You know, that lady who was buying steak and lobster with her food stamp card.

I was so shocked and dismayed I almost dropped the National Enquirer I was reading.

Another fake boogieman from the far right. First it was welfare queens, now it's students who are some of the poorest members of society, while Congressmen and pundits will tell you they live TOO well.

I heard a similar conversation, only we were at the liquor store and a student was talking about his student loan paid vacation to Tahiti and the lady was buying champagne and single malt scotch with her food stamp card.

You can't be serious. How do you expect full-time college students to have 9-5 full-time jobs? In many public universities, due to budget cuts, students are lucky to get the classes they need at all. Never mind the commute from work to school or vice versa. Use your head.

He was making a joke with me, not a serious statement.

Ah, gotcha. There are people who would say things like that seriously, so I couldn't be sure.

Seems the fishing is good in these waters, nothing but bait, but if it tastes good by all means eat it.
Good Grief People.

Unfortunately, any knucklehead can be a supporter of the Republican party, no litmus test for either brains nor class. So we get posts like the OP.

Doesn't mean he paid for that trip with student loans. Could be he comes from a well-off family.
