The brutal Philippine President, Duterte, who has overseen the murder of more than 10,000 alleged drug dealers and users, with no process of law, will meet with Trump on Nov. 13th. From what Trump has been saying, Duterte is a role-model for what he would like to be himself, essentially a dictator, not a president.

One of the few Philippine senators who has openly opposed Duterte, says there is a hit order out, to kill him. What a wet dream that would be for Trump, to run this country in that way. Some commentators have described Duterte as the "Asian Trump". Maybe it would be more accurate to say that Trump was the would-be "American Duterte". Trump's attitude towards other "strongman" dictators, follows a similar pattern. Is he plotting to become a member of their club?

There seems to be a number of people in the Philippines, who approve of Duterte's slaughter of anyone suspected of drug activity. What they don't consider, is what do the mad dogs who carry out the murders do, when they run out of these primary targets? They will find other types of people to label as deserving of death and carry on. It seems that Trump's cult of sycophants has its counterpart in the Philippines.

When rats were brought to many island territories by ships, they devastated the natural wildlife. So they brought mongooses, which are vicious little predators, and released them to kill the rats. When the rats were thinned down, the mongooses then began to eat most of the native birds and other wildlife. That's how things will work out in the Philippines, if Duterte is allowed to continue what he does. The drug activity may be reduced, but the country could turn into a dictatorial hell, as a result.
