About half way down, the Trump motorcade passed the Entire Chinese delegation in their own black limos traveling up the hill so Xi Jinping could address the conference.
Shortly thereafter, The nations of the Western Pacific announced they had reached a mutual trade agreement, in theory.

Trump has managed to remove the United State's influence and power from Europe, Latin America, Western Pacific and Canada all in less than a year.

The art of the deal in action, I guess.
The main objective of TPP, as I understand it, was more geopolitical than economic. People tend to focus on the loss of widget making jobs in the U.S., which honestly shouldn't be here anyway since we enjoy no competitive advantage over other countries when it comes to widget making. The bigger loss will be a loss of influence in the Asia-Pacific region, which will be more gradually felt by all Americans with a steady decline in living standards relative to the rest of the world. It will be more similar to the waning influence of 19th Century Britain.

The jobs in manufacturing the things that ARE manufactured in the third world will NOT come back. Why would a corporation pay an American $15-$20 per hour, when they can pay a kid in Laos or Burma $0.15-$0.20 per hour?

I'd urge you to read some of the links already provided and then come back and add some supported content as to why you want TPP when Sanders opposed it and even Clinton backed away from it.

Trump campaigned on killing TPP and explained why. Whether people agree with him or not is fine, but it's silly to say 'because Obama'.

All of the presidential candidates opposed TPP during their candidacy. Many Democratic groups opposed it (AFL-CIO). It's not hard to figure out why such a controversial program was killed.

The flipside of that is who Americans intend on selling expensive American-made products to. You would have trouble selling a $2,000 iPhone in the U.S. much less a $2,000 iPhone in Korea, Brazil, Croatia, Russia, Panama, India, etc.

Also, what downstream effects would higher costs have on the rest of the supply chain? If Michelin has to buy American rubber for 3x the cost, will they be able to employ the same number of workers? Do they pass the cost along to Ford? Does Ford then in turn pass the cost along to consumers, which results in lower demand and fewer sales?

well It is Great that Trump withdrew USA from TPP, that way Copyrights in the 11 members would not be rulled by gringo-like laws, which overprotect intelectual property, And the Medicines will keep Cheap by this 11 nations since they will not be forced to pay any compensation to Gringo-Medicine Coporations for any "potential" loss due to the Generic medicines made by "Non-Gringo" laboratories.

Thak you Donald Trump, you are not only defending US Jobs but you also gave us freedom to non US citizens, from the Imperialistic view of Corporations.

The ministers agreed to suspend 20 provisions from the original TPP agreement, 11 of which are related to intellectual property. This includes provisions concerning the data protection period on new biologics (medical products derived from natural sources) and an extension of the copyright period.

The irony here is that Trump ran on beating the Chinese but he's doing the one thing that will help China the most.

  • American farmers and small business owners are among the U.S. industries that will be worst hit once a new Trans Pacific Partnership deal is implemented, said one expert
  • Over the weekend, TPP member countries made progress on a deal without Washington
"The agreement seeks lower tariffs for goods traded among members, the bulk of which are Asia-Pacific nations. That means non-member countries, such as the U.S., will still face high rates when shipping to Asia-Pacific."

Is there any reason to believe that the US is better off without TPP? Provide data.

Trump was just riding a wave of discontent. shouting No at something like TPP is easy, and we know Trump has no idea what was in it, because Trump has no understanding of any of the bills he signs. Trump no longer even pretends to know what he is talking about.

No is easy, Repubs are angry and whipped up by fox, infowars etc so all they know is NO. There was real plan other than saying things that got good feedback from the crowds.. (trump has admitted this during interviews)
